Yes
awful name, but is this company for real?

last week they managed to loose one of my parcels in there warehouse and took nearly 20mins for them to find it after acusing me of rearranging delivery....

this week my entire bathroom suite is being delivered by them:bang:

ive been using their order tracker which is quite frankly useless, my order has been recieved by 4 depots and only left one of them  and due to the fact they just use the word "depot" rather than giving its location I have no idea where my pallet is and when it will arrive, completely useless!

anyone ever had a pallet delivered by these cretins?

They used to be called HDNL (Home Delivery Network Limited), they also took over DHL's UK residential delivery service last year and proceeded to completely ruin it.

id had stuff delivered by home delivery when we were in cumbria and tbh they were really helpful, IF you call a 60mile round trip to the depot helpful! but in preston they appear to be COMPLETELY useless!

When DHL owned their UK domestic service you could (or I could anyway ) book a delivery at 11.30am and it would be picked up before 12pm. Since Yodel took over the liveried vans have disappeared, you have to book the day before and there is no guarantee that collections will be at the same time from one day to the next.

This is true, I have it on good authority that they have made some hefty cuts to the rounds.

Round here the vans have yet to be repainted and it's still DHL liveried trucks and vans doing the drops. So far the service I've received seems no difference, but I'm not a regular user of their services.

We get them deliver to the shopping outlet I work for and I can say, hand on heart, I've yet to meet one who isnt an unmitigated muppet.
We've even gone so far as banning a couple of drivers from the site because of their behaviour.

Not Yodel but I've suffered from the myHermes awful service. Booked two collections but they never turned up even after several phone calls. In the end I cancelled and they promised to refund but didn't. I had to get PayPal to refund me (which they did without problem in a couple of days). I could easily have lost customers through this farce but fortunately both were very understanding.

Also had this, they also promised me a free collection after the 3rd failure but I never used them again. I ended up sending it with DHL who collected when they said they would. (before Yodel joined the scene).

Their online tracking is garbage, ive had a few things delivered and the tracking has been all over the place, I had a laptop delivered last week by them, first it was at the depot for delivery, then it was out for delivery, then it was back in the depot for delivery, same thing for a couple of other things ive had delivered, ive not had any actual problem with the delivery just the rubbish online tracking

I'm so pleased to see this thread  as I had seen a few of there articulated trucks in the last few weeks and wondered what they were, now I know it just a rebrand of HDNL I know to avoid it I stopped using any store that used HDNL now I guess I have not use any joker that send my parcel though this company as reading this thread and past experience I'm sure they will be equally muppet like

You get what you pay for.

£6.95 for a parcel from lands end to John o' groats.

All the parcel carriers are cutting costs and unfortunately a loss of service follows. Its tough as a transporter

im paying £40 for a delivery, i expect a pretty good service atleast to the level of knowing where in the country my delivery is and when i might expect it. i was supposed to recieve a call from them which as of yet ive not had dispite the 72hr window passing, it better arrive before the 25th as that is when the suite is supposed to be delivered!

Not sure if they'd taken over from DHL at the time, but I ordered an iPod for my son for Christmas. It went to their depot in Dartford, just over the QE Bridge from me. Yes we had snow but it had melted by then, I have two workmates who use the Dartford Crossing daily who had no problems with the roads, the bridge or the tunnels each day commuting to and from work. Yet after having tried twice, first time no one home, second time, someone was home all day, they failed to make delivery and continued to blame the snow, yet I saw plenty of their delivery vans in my neighbourhood. I even followed one along the M25 that had obviously come from the Kent side of the river. Eventually they sent the ipod back to Best Buy that I'd ordered from and I had to go and buy him one in Argos instead for about £40 more than the deal Best Buy had at the time I'd ordered it in November.

Recently I ordered some potato growing bags from Amazon. Delivery was going to be Yodel. I got home and had missed the delivery driver. A card was left for me saying something about the garden. It wasn't in the front garden and no neighbours had taken it in. Went in to the house and we spotted a big brown box lying on the lawn!!! The driver had gone around the back of the house, which backs on to another road, and had oblivously just lobbed it over in to the garden!!! Just glad he/she had missed all the lovely flowers and vegetables. Good thing the parcel wasn't fragile!!!

I once found a box in the middle of the flower bed in my back garden, from Parcelforce, addressed to someone 3 streets away

Terrible company

Ordered some parts for my bike, box was shashed to bits and both my brand new chrome exhausts had dents in!

Opened the rest of the box to find bits missing so phoned and complained. They then sent out another van with my missing items and posted a "Customer not home" thing whilst I stood in the living room. Walked outsite and asked wtf he was doing, and he said "Mate its not even on the van, they just sent me here to keep up appearances"

Absoloute sodding muppets

Bry

Just this week I ordered some stuff from toolbox.co.uk, It was delivered by Yodel. I'd never heard of them before.

They delivered on time, the van was unmarked and scruffy looking, the driver was ok.
I can only surmise that they're sub-contracting to anyone and probably pay peanuts for the service, and if that is true the service is going to be pretty variable.

they are used by M&S too. Not impressed with the flowers left for my other half (behind the wheelie bin in the back garden) - it was only by luck that we found them

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THESE. AVOID!

How do you avoid them though? Most retailers won't tell you who they use to ship and even if they do just because it's not Yodel it doesn't mean that it won't be them that deliver as DHL orders are often handled by Yodel without the customer (the retailer) being aware.

Not much of bad experiences with them really though despite saying they do not deliver weekends they delivered a parcel for me on a Sunday...

dhl IS Yodel

Yeah, I know.....

However they still market DHL and Yodel as two distinct companies, with (according to DHL) their own depots....

This company are completely utterly useless

Just phoned them up the earliest they can deliver the pallet is Thursday, so that means they will have had it in their system for over 8 days by the time I receive it. so I'm about to email the retail company to inform them that if anything in the order is missing or damaged, the entire pallet is being rejected and ill be requesting a full refund due to the incompetency of the delivery company they are using, on yodels website the delivery time frame for pallet orders appears to be 3-4days

After reading all the tales of woe above I must consider myself lucky.

I ordered a classic mp3 music centre from the catalogue (K&Co) I have used for 6 years on a Wednesday afternoon at about 3.15.

Received message from catalogue stating delivery would be following Monday, the item arrived, Thurday at 11.30am, less than 24 hours after ordering, and yes it was delivered by Yodel.

John:)

Had an order from Jessops delivered the other week by Yodel every thing went fine even their online tracking service.

Strange thing was that the delivery driver was a driving instructor in his company car no pupil in his car and must be doing this to make ends meet.

Positive from me.

They delivered my new laptop yesterday, got the despatch email from laptops direct on Sunday. So not bad delivery really.

Never had a problem with HDNL, for those who don't know yes the work is subcontracted to people in local areas, hence they use their own vehicles. DHL I have parcels delivered and collected with no problems and the same since they became Yodel. I arrange collection the day before and they always collect the next day at roughly the same time. All couriers have their faults though.

awful name,

Apparently it's short for YO** DELivery  (that's "your", ****ing swear filter  :shake:)

I wouldn't bank on the service improving anytime soon, as it would appear they're planning heavy cutbacks in service and by the time the DHL Domestic/HDNL merger is complete next year they will have closed 60 of the current 120 depots and 4 of the 8 national distribution centres.

absolute heap of *****

I returned from a trip recently to find a yodel card marked - "Items in wheelie bin" the only problem was that this was tuesday, the delivery was from the previous friday and bin day is monday , and my neighbour had considerately put my bin out for me :bang:

When I rang YODEL and enquired why the **** they though the wheelie was an apprpriate place to leave a parcel (especially as my neighbour is retired, nearly always in, happy to take parcels for me , and theres a note on my door saying "If i'm not in please leave deliveries next door" ) they said " well we thought it would be safer than leaving it with someone else "

Hmm yeah , right, okay

Fortunately amazon , who the delivery was from, were totally understanding when I rang and explained , and redespatched my order without recharging me - this time to my workplace where theres always someone in during office hours - I presume amazon will try to reclaim the costs from yodel, though they equally might just write it off in the name of good customer service.

order arrived this morning......

sink unit broken! entire order rejected and full refund asked for (as I now have to source a bathroom suite at short notice!)

to be fair to yodel (appauling delivery time not withstanding!) the sink was badly packaged, it came in the manufacturers box which is only designed to allow the sinks to be stacked on pallets! hardly suitable for dispatch through a delivery network!

a quick update on this. so the order arrived and was rejected, they still havent returned it to the sender so I am still out of pocket! it appears that if the sender doesnt request its return (which they did apparently!) then its theres to play football with in the depot until which times as they send a reminder.

im stuck between a useless delivery company and a useless sending companies customer service department!

oh joys!

Absolute bunch of muppets.

Back when they were still HDNL, Amazon used them to deliver a Canon 24-70. Came home expecting a card through the door but nothing. So I check the tracking and it says delivered. After a bit of detective work it seems the idiot courier just left a £1000 package in my front porch for the whole day. Checked the porch and its not there. I don't use the front door much as we park at the back, and the porch is completely accessible to any postman, courier, or leaflet distributor etc that wants access, so it seems that at some point during the day someone's got a free 24-70. Thankfully Amazon were very good and refunded straight away, but why the courier thought an unsecured porch is a good place to leave a package I don't know. Especially seen as I lived about a mile from their depot at the time.

First experience of Yodel was a few weeks ago. Was expecting a delivery by DHL, but didn't get a knock or card for a few days. After working out who was actually delivering it, I checked Yodels tracking site and it said 2 delivery attempts had been made. Customer services were useless, couldn't tell me anything about my package, but did give me the couriers number. So phoned her, and it turns out she's contracted and using her own car. Apparently she didn't leave a card on either day as she's run out. I tell her that's not my problem, and if she'd left a card the 1st time I'd have stayed in the next day. Had a bit of an argument about when I was getting my package - she wouldn't even guarantee to come on that 3rd day, even though I'd paid a fair bit for delivery.

If I could avoid them

They are a joke. Their tracking said someone had tried to deliver when I know I was in. I was actually outside around the front door at the time they said. They delivered next day way past 6pm. Some random looking lad dropped it off.

I wouldn't even assume the courier even dropped off the 24-70. Easy way to swipe one is to say you left it in an unsecured porch! You can't prove it wasn't there. Courier company won't be able to prove the courier was telling porkies.

I'm not surprised they're rubbish though. The amount they pay people per delivery is a disgrace. It's often less than a quid.

Haven't had the pleasure of Yodel yet but my local Parcel Farce service takes some beating. Just recently I spent a whole day in the house waiting for a delivery only to check online to see that they had "attempted delivery" at 14.00 - at that time I was standing at my front door, chatting to a neighbour and neither of us saw a van, delivery driver or anything resembling an attempt at delivery.

I checked online again to find that the package had been delivered and signed for by someone called Kelly - none of my neighbours is called that. So I tried to phone parcel force and couldn't get through so I contacted Warehouse Express who had sent the package and they were able to find out that it had been left at my local post office as I hadn't been in! The post office is 250 yards from my house. Two days later I a card arrived in the mail telling me that they were unable to deliver as I wasn't in and the parcel was at the post office.

This isn't the first time I've had this from Parcel Farce. On a previous occasion I've watched the driver come up my path without a package and slip a card through my door very quietly and when I opened the door to say I was in he shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the van. I asked for the package and he told me "you'll have to collect it, I haven't got it." When I asked why I was told "No point, you'd probably be out."

I've also had stuff dumped at the door, left with neighbours but with no notification and put in the bin.

My best one was a card through the door saying "parcel in wheelie bin at gate"

Go on Mr Delivery Driver, have a wild stab at why the bin is at the gate........

Ive heard nothing but bad things about Yodel, and when they were HDNL, so I wasnt overly happy when I found out my new DSLR was being delivered by them.

However it actually turned up on time and undamamged so not too bad.

Ive heard stuff about them chucking parcels over gates and so on

HDNL left £70 worth of xmas gifts under my garden bench for 3 days as i wasnt home. The note put through the door didnt state where the item had been left, just "left in safe place" so had to go on a hunt for it. Glad it didnt rain over those 3 days and that no one had had a nosy round my garden as theres no gate or fence stopping anyone from entering the back garden.

Indeed, wouldn't suprise me if thats what happened. Have had packages left there before that I've actually found - one from Royal Mail that had sat there for almost a week before I discovered it

We use DHL for deliveries between stores at work sometimes, and as such have an account with them and a direct phone number to the bookings team there. You can imagine my surprise the other week when I searched the system for the "DHL Bookings" number, then called it only to be greeted by James from Yodel. I said hang on, I think I've got the wrong number, unless DHL have had a re-brand on the quiet... He said yes, they have, it's been Yodel for a while now! Fair play, just went through the usual process and all was well!

Never been a fan of HDNL though, had a few cr@p deliveries from them in the past so now they're a part of Yodel I won't use them for personal stuff. Stick to Parcelforce, it hasn't let me down so far *grabs the nearest wooden object!*
