YN 622 controller (Now available)

Sometime in December according to Flash Havoc

I wouldn't hold Santa to it, tbh.

The 622tx N is coming first before the C version, and even that isn't due for a few months.

Superior UI.

As YN adhere closely to Canons optical wireless protocols (just over radio), it's unlikely they will add any functionality over the above.

But it's enough for me!

No. Not to my knowledge. There were rumours of variable tail sync timing...

USB socket for future firmware updates.

What were you expecting exactly?

This is a controller for the 622s not a replacement for them
Technically, it can be used as a replacement for the YN622 you use as a transmitter. I'm probably not alone in thinking I'll be buying one and it'll mean I then have an extra receiver. In that sense it's very much a replacement for a YN622.

Yep, that's what I want to do. I was thinking of getting maybe a SU800 and another 622N but then if I wait a little longer, I can get the YN622TX and no need to buy both. That way hopefully it's one less gizmo to carry and will come in slightly cheaper.

I'm looking forward to this as I was about to get another flash and 622C but now I can just get the flash and the 622TX for a little more control.

neil was that on eBay?

Does this add the much-teased wireless power adjust for the YN560 mkIII's?
They don't do ETTL but have built in 602 and 603 receivers and were obviously built with a future trigger with remote power adjust. If it does that AND adds a decent IR focus illuminator then I'll buy one as soon as the Canon one appears!

The manual doesn't mention it.

ah sorry, I'm getting these mixed up with the (apparently) forthcoming trigger that allows remote power control of YN flashes...

YN622c and YN622n have been out for over a year. They rely on the settings from the camera flash control menu and LCD screen to control the remote flashes.

YN622-TX (C and N) are only now coming on the market, after quite a delay, and allow settings from the dedicated transmitters LCD to control the remote flashes. No diving deep into the cameras control to see/adjust settings. The only downside is that any local 'on-camera' fill flash will have to come from a flash on a flash bracket rather than 'on top' of the old transmitter.

I agree, if it had been a vertically mounted unit rather than an horizontal one it may have been possible to provide that facility, I'm sure I've seen it done on other makes.

Its the way I've been running with yn622s anyway, and it isn't too bad tbh. Quick release under my 622 on a Custom Bracket Mini-RC and I can go from on camera to off camera light very easily and within a few seconds.

The 600exrt system is more seamless though, with flash and transmitter built into one unit.

Point missed?

I've got YN622c's

I'm waiting for a YN622c-TX. Hoping it'll be easier in use than the camera menu.
Whilst the Nikon version is out, the Canon one isn't.

Hi Phil

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the YN-568ii's for Canon included the Master Controller feature unlike the Nikon version.

Tis the only reason I bought a SB-910. I do like the flexibility of being able to have an onboard bounce flash as well as a controller. A feature I would definitely miss if I just used the TX unit on it's own. I guess for a studio shoot it's not a big deal but for a wedding I'd like the flexibility just in case.

We're talking about the YN 622 controllers not any flashes. The controllers take their instructions from the camera menu, unlike the PWs I had previously which took instructions from
the flash attached.
The only problem is that the menus take too many button pushes before you even get a chance to change things.

I've got the 568 and I didn't think it did act as a controller (it's not what I bought it for)

I have just checked my bank account to see if my payment of £50 for the controller that I ordered from the seller that I posted a link to in an earlier post has been taken and it has. I see that the seller is now listing it for £150. I have received an eBay receipt for my £50 together with an estimated delivery date. I thought at the time I ordered it £50 was very cheap. I doubt very much I will ever see the goods, if I don't where do I stand? I don't have much experience with buying off eBay. Please be careful if you intend to use this seller.

They'll just be pushing their luck due to demand. All estimates were that it'd come in between £50 and £100, making it about twice the price of a transceiver. So I think you'll get yours and they'll be back at £50 shortly.

Sellers often raise the prices to un-orderable levels when they don't have sufficient stock, it enables them to leave the listing but not receive any orders on that listing which they couldn't fulfil.

They will probably stabilise at about 45-50 ukp.

End of Feb it Chinese new year. Not happy as it was bought before he set the deadline. But no one has any yet.

I bought one from Fleabay's "Dream2Buy" for £39.99. Marked as dispatched arriving Monday. Now I need a second flash too to augment my sb700 and two 622n.....
