The gallery of shots is here: http://www.philhackettphotography.com/lrps_final_panel

It was quite a process & if anyone is interested in the gory details (could be useful if you are in the process of getting the LRPS), check out the blog post here: http://philhackettphotography.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/licentiate-of-royal-photographic-society.html

Phil :)

A very big "well done" from me. :woot:  A real achievement.

Did you go to the assessment?

Heather

Well done, I was surprised to see a set of portraits, I believed that they expected a wider range of stuff.

Nice set, should have said that first!:notworthy:

Congratulations and very well done, I'm putting a set together for submission. Could I just ask you where you got your mounts from. I couldn't find any on ebay ?

Phil, what about the panels that failed? I would guess that they were good photos but just not good enough, or were they clearly lacking in subject innovation or technical competence?

I think it was frames by Suzanne - I asked for 10 Ivory A4 double mounts with backing cards and she put up a special BIN auction for me.

A mixture of reasons for failure. One panel had some truly horrid HDR portraits and some awful compositions.

Here are some other reasons:

1) Mixture of good and mediocre shots

2) Several shots very similar - a set of seascapes failed for this reason

3) Dull, low-contrast prints

4) Examiners picked up some poor focussing as well, although one panel passed despite one OOF shot.

What's next for you Phil?
Are you going to keep the momentum and have a crack at the ARPS?

Thanks Phill, I have just put together my layout sheet. Would you mind casting your eye over it for me if I emailed it to you ?

Very well done, what are the costs involved ?

They commented that my panel was unusual in that they were all portraits, but they were pleased with the variety of portraits.

Well you have to join the RPS (can do this after acceptance if you prefer), think it was about £50 for the LRPS (although you get a re-sit discount if you don't get it first time). I probably spent about £120 on mounts and prints & £30 on a crap hotel near Bath as I didn't fancy risking the morning traffic!
