Had a really rubbish week so far, feeling a bit low, and then all of a sudden the big boss calls me up to his office and sits me down to offer me a new job - stone me, couldn't believe it!!
Anyway, to cut a long one short, he's of the opinion that photography is an element of the business that we rely on totally to sell our mags and he wants me to move from the editorship of my current magazine to become head of photography - crazy news!!
It's something I mooted a few years ago but the idea never took off. Now, he's totally hanged his opinion of things and feels that because I have a lot of experience in togging, I should work across all of our titles as the chief photographer, shooting a much wider range of stuff than I'm currently doing.
Told the missus and she was understandably hesitant we have a baby on the way before congratulating me on getting my dream job. The guys on my team are understandably a bit gutted at me moving but they were chuffed to bits and my line manager is stoked at the though of me doing it.
No extra money (but that's not the the be-all-and-end-all) but I will have total freedom to do what I want to do, progressing photography within the company and being the guy everyone will now need. Couldn't be better.
Now, just have to persuade him to invest in a bit of new kit for myself a D300, a couple of SB800s and a 300mm VR would be very welcome indeed
Just thought i'd share that
