Yet another newbie

Hello all I found this site last night and decided to register today I got in to photography through my passion for cars. As I started to go out and take pictures of it and then I started to go to a few other places just to take pictures which were nothing to do with my car. I bought my own camera compact camera instead of keep using my dads compact camera last year it was only a Nikon S210 because I was only going to take pictures at car shows. Then this year I went out and treated myself to an SLR which is a Nikon D3000 it came with a 18-55 mm lens and. I also bought a Sigma 70-300mm lens which has Macro mode on it all what I know is self thought well except from what I learnt from a website called Digital photography school.
