I reckon he's got far enough through this tournament to be a brit now. A place in the finals will be reported as "plucky brit, murray, reaches US open final".

Going out in the 1/4's would most likely have been reported as "scottish misery, murray, crashes out of US open".

They even managed to slip a mention of 1966 into an item on Sky News about the 1980s, something along the lines of "it was a great decade, almost as good as 1966"

You have to wonder when the penny will drop that 1966 was 42 years ago.....
