Yeah but no but..woman who set Up "R.I.P. Raoul Moat You Legend" Facebook page.

As if it isn't depressing enough that anyone can be that stupid- apparantly 30,000 people who contributedf to her web page thought the guy was a hero too. :cuckoo:

According to Radio 4 most people have joined that page to argue he was not a hero. The way it has been reported, as usual is incorrect. I don't know much about FB but you have to join a page before you can post. 30,000 people joined. Not all in support of Mr Moat.

What is worrying (other than the fact that my tax goes to paying her benefit) is that people like here have the right to vote!!!

What is more worrying is that she has children who she said will be told that Moat was a legend. What will they turn out like?

I think it's a sad state of our society that there are people that can just brush off the murder and wounding, and that we are so desensetised to the inhumane treatment of others that many people just do no respect other people anymore.

Is this what we've come to? That people just don't care about others anymore?

I got about 20% through the first youtube item and had to give up. I only made it about 10% through the one that Marcel posted.

Many of you may realise that I'm quite left wing by now, but I genuinely fear for the future of this country. Moat may well have been mentally ill to have behaved in the way that he did, and indeed could have needed urgent help, but that's a different subject. To start a youtube page praising the behaviour of someone who has behaved in the way that he did in incomprehensible. To actually refer to him as a legend is insulting to any reasonable minded person.

No, that's not what I mean. All most people here know is what the media has fed them. From that, sweeping statements are assumed and made, but worse still, people become idolised or hated - by the masses.

Things like this are tragic, but it's the same as "the accident and the ambulance" scenario. When there's an accident, particuarly when a stranger is injured, people just walk on by. A few will stare and the odd one will stop to help. Statistically, how long it is before someone stops and helps depends on alsorts of things, including the clothes that the person is wearing. When an ambulance has stopped/arrives, people gather around to see what's happened...often the same people who moments before, just walked on by.

What's happened was tragic, but there's only so much that can be said about a part fact-part fiction story that people have been given until it turns from news to gossip and the chinese whispers become bigger.

Well the accident and ambulance scenario is the same.
People walk by...they just dont care.

Peter Kay did sum it up in a joke very well.

25 years ago if a house alarm went off, people would be out, being nosey...finding out what's going on (OK, not necessarily for true altruistic reasons), but still...they would actually care
Nowadays?....

"THREE DAYS...that alarm has been going off"
"15 bottles of milk on his doorstep? What's he got...a lion?"

It's a sad indication of a massive massive drop in social, moral and humanistic values.

Im not clicking either link, I heard the lady in question on Talksport, though I could only stand her voice for about 1 minute.

What I find more than amazing is the fact the lady in question has the intellect to start a Facebook page, she certainly had us all fooled when she pretended to come across as a complete and utter fqwit..............

People choose not to examine the darker things in life to protect themselves to an extent, I'm not justifying behaviours, just saying.

She's clearly stupid, anti police and instantly forgettable, but it doesn't bother me that she expresses such ridiculous views. After all, this country is supposed to allow free speech so idiots like her have just as much right to express their views as anyone else.

What does bother me though is the number of other people who hold the same views. Sad.

The police went to incredible lengths to try to take this guy alive - talking to him for hours while some of them were around ten feet away from him with him holding a loaded shotgun. They'd have been well within their rights to shoot the moment he refused to put down that weapon regardless of where it was pointing, but they didn't. He could have shot at them in a blink at any time, and many of those cops took big personal risks in trying to talk sense to him.

Exactly. Makes my blood boil.

Yep, they should have nailed the idiot at the very first opportunity.

Fortunately people like that are a tiny minority. That doesn't make it right, but if you want a free and unsensored society you have to accept it warts and all.

I agree over the top by all concerned, a big costly show, just proves how fragile the police are.

There personal risk was loaded with the fact that they had to do it, it's what they earn £25,000 per year for,

I for one am desensitised and i have seen all walks of life, been in handgun and shotgun situations far far removed from the semi/controlled situation the police where in at the stand off.

too many of us are prepared to "walk on by" some out of fear, some out of contempt, and some because it's not that bigger deal unless it's happening to us. would i walk on by,. Yes for family and self preservation do i turn the other cheek yes because of pure nutters like him out there on the edge/brink.

having a bad day i can see this being one way forward with all the social and economic unrest. some people are just looking to unload on someone.

Why can you never find a social worker when you actually need one?

I listened to her interviewed live by Ian Collins on Talksport and he did remark, to the effect, that it may be worth social work having a look at her kids.

Yes, and if Moat had got a shot off at any time after the police were first in a positon to fire (which was before Moat was lying down) and he had hit someone there would be an outcry against the police now.

two things id like to bring up about all this;

1) This is what happens when cousins have sex, they have kids like her.
2) How much is she getting paid by the media now for her stupid views,
because i have loads of stupid views if they want to contact me.

"Dats Why they aksed the camras to move bak. He shot a coppa so they shot him"

...

"no no no no, What's this. So you're columbo all of a sudden?"

Some comical lines from the presenter but I don't know how he endured that conversation for so long.

his comical remark had some intellect behind it so it probably went over her head, or perhaps its still tumbling around her head.........like tumbleweed
