Well ...

Just back from the windy, wet city ! Negotiated my first freelance contract since being terminated from my old job at the end of April ... :p

3 days per week minimum, reviewable monthly and extendable beyond if things work out ... yippee ! Also offered a negotiable sweetener if I pull in any major contracts for them ... to successful conclusion ...

Also got a meet with another firm on Friday ... already offered freelance work with them ... but got to negotiate acceptable terms and times ... only so many days in a week !?!

From sitting about on me bum messing on here, taking a few shots and generally enjoying life ... back to full time and beyond in less than no time ... and all freelance without the security (?) of being employed after x number of decades ... HOW SCARY IS THAT ???

Anyway ... me and Jill are just a wee bit pleased ... and relieved ... and I wanted to share it with you guys and gals ... 'cos ... I blame you all with all the good news stories and job successes on here lately ... it's the GLF ... that's what it is

I'll miss you all ... from next Monday when I won't know me *rs* from me elbow ... or something like that ... :gag:

Rog...
:p

Nice one mate, well done! You'll miss the bumming around once it's gone :D

Congrats! What is it you will be doing? Once you start back, you'll feel like you've never been away!

Good on ya Rog! Glad things are working out for you!

Well done!

Hope you negotiated a better income than before....or can get there once you prove your worth :)

I still remember my first days of self employment....getting the available work done then thinking what do i do now

Congrats m8

Now you'll be able to buy a proper camera :D

What industry are you going back into?

Thanks a lot for your comments guys and gals ... appreciate it loads ...

Sort of specialist advisor and consultant to a large investment group in the city! Scary enough when I hate the city and big money game ! Still only one day in two weeks 'in the office' normally ... working from home mostly ...

Actually will be loads better off as it happens ... only the work is not guaranteed ... oh, and I'll probably have to earn it too ... ;)

In fact I could just do the 3 days a week and be as well off ... :p

The worst thing about being self-employed is falling out with your boss all the time. :D

Strange thing about being self employed is it's actually more secure than being employed. When you think about it most folk only have one month's security of employment. If your self employed your secure till the money runs out, could be years ;)

Well done

That's very true. As an employee, if you're fired or made redundant you suddenly lose all your income. As a freelance you (should) have several clients, which spreads the risk, and you'd be very unlucky (or in the wrong job!) if you lose them all at once. :)

Cheers Stev ... spurred on by all the recent successes posted in this place, yours included m8 ...

:p

Big Congrats Rog, you’re now a free man :D , well nearly, as your still under contract. Its gonna take a year or two before you feel secure again, but once their, as others have said, you'll find yourself far more empowered.

I've been self employed for 22 years now (since leaving Army) and If legislation or something ruined my main business tomorrow it really wouldn’t bother me that much, in fact I’d be excited to have to turn my hand to one of my other idle business ideas. Can't believe I’m that relaxed about the whole thing myself sometimes, what with having responsibilities and sort of family as well (My son Danny)...but I am.

Welcome to the club m8.

Nice one Rog, welcome on board the money train.......

well done rog, good luck!

Matt, FB, Glen and Matty ... and everyone ... ;)

Thank you all for your kind words and reassurances ...

Money train ... mmm like the sound of that one ... bring it on ... :p
