Hi All,

I have just come into possion of a Yashica MAT 124G Camera. It is a thing of beauty and I really want to shoot with it.

It looks in full working condition, the only things I can see of issue are (1) the winding handle is missing the knob (no big operational issue), (2) the light seals need replacing (definite must for repair), (3) the mirror and viewfinder could do with a clean, but they are in great condition other than some dust, (again not a major issue).

I would like to get it overhauled by someone who knows what they are doing, but I am not sure who this could be in the UK. The name that keeps popping is Mark Harma, but he is based in the USA.

I need to get the light seals put in it to check that it is working correctly, but does anyone know/recommend a repair house/person who could give my new Yashica a once of over and a clean up?

Matt

http://www.aztechservices.com/ (website is a bit lame)

I've always had good luck with this guy and he's overhauled a friends Yashica MAT and a few of my cameras as well, always been happy with his work. His website doesn't list custom repairs but he does them if you ring up and ask for a quote, never paid more than £50 for a service though, he might even have spare knob if you ask.

He lives in my area so i go take my stuff in person but he does mail order as well if you send him the camera and tell him what you want done over the phone. I was there once picking up a camera and he had a Rolleiflex in pieces being serviced.

Miles Whitehead also gets a lot of mentions in this forum, I asked how much he charged for a Yashica Mat (original) TLR service, he quoted £35 + P&P. I didn't go through with it (only wanted to get a Pentax serviced), but just to give you an idea. TLRs are more simple than most SLRs, generally.
