.xmp files

When I process a raw file in Photoshop Camera Raw an extra file is created
the file is empty and the file extension is .xmp.
I normally delete it and it does'nt seem to do any harm ......
but what is it for ??

They're the files that tell your editing program what changes have been made to the raw (so it's non-destructive)

If you're deleting the files, you're deleting the edits

Dont ever delete the XMP's... Thats all your hard work in front of photoshop right there.

I've never known what they were so never deleted them. Glad I didn't now!
