So what are you all getting your wives for xmas?
 
I've gone green and got her beer. If she doesn't like it at least I know it won't be a wasted resource.
 
For Valentines, I got her a new ironing board, so for Christmas I thought a matching board cover?...
Nah. She uses Canon (like me), so maybe something [we] both could use.
 
b****r all so far. I was going to get Peter Kay tickets, but couldn't get onto any of the tickets sites when they went on sale.
Fortunately she is quite happy with pampering bits, books, hat, scarf, that kind of thing.

The trickier one is what to get her from our 2yo daughter.

A Lowepro 400 AW Flipside
Beginners guides on lightroom and photoshop
I'm glad she took up photography, makes buying pressies so much easier
 
Mine got a 5Dmkiv last August, I even gave her it early, offered to drive around the country with it, saving her the trouble and I even bought her a 17-40L, to make sure she had everything covered from 17mm to 400mm.

How good a Hubby am I? :angelic:
 
A framed picture from our holiday in Thailand..... Shes been waiting since Feb to see them so why not wrap one up and give it her ;)
 
7D mk2, grip, memory card, spare battery and a 50mm 1.2 L.
She doesn't care for photography but so what?
 
Tickets for Katherine Ryan, and also for Jon Richardson and know she will be chuffed with them. Plus a few bits like running socks, and whatever I see in town!
 
New Ipad to replace her old one, and probably some running kit.
She goes out running but keeps coming back...
 
I've made my wife a photo book covering the first few years of us as parents, have got her a couple of Tea cups in a design she likes, and the girls have made her a photo diary. There is also the usual 'little things' that fill a stocking.
The best thing is that our eldest is coming home after her first term at uni, so we will be having a big meal out, all 4 of us. Can't wait.
 
I also made a photobook of our 2 kids at some of the places we have been this year.
Allowed me to show her that all the time I have spent behind the camera was for her ......

And as it is a personal gift rather than some perfume / scarf, I hope to get many brownie points....

A personal gift is worth so much more than anything bought - I've always told my kids not to buy me anything, but to make me a card or even a small 'thing'
We spent many a happy hour collecting stuff from the beach, painting stones or whatever which is all part of the process, and is precious family time.

I've still got every card and present, and they are treasured.
 
We've never 'done' Christmas presents between us, only for the kids when they were young. I doubt if that will change :)
 
I have my eye on an overlocker for the Mrs, she reckons they are too expensive but the one i'm looking at is cheaper than an L lens, probably get more use too! :-)
 
I'm struggling to think of something this year after previous debacles of the mop and then the vacuum cleaner - how could I know there was already one in the cupboard? Honestly, I'd never seen that cupboard until she showed me.

Though last year I did really well, when she opened her present she was speechless; so if you want a guaranteed winner guys, just get her a washing machine. Oddly enough a washing machine is just what I need in the temporary accommodation I'm living in now.


To be more serious/sensible. We don't go much on the present part of Christmas and tend to buy small gifts or something both of us and others can get some use from/ fun out of. Often it has been a board game, anything from Great Game of Britain and Suffering Spirits, to Carcassonne, Village and Puerto Rico.

Couple of years ago I was ultra brave, for an anniversary present, probably our 37th I think, I bought my wife a really sharp (and expensive) Japanese knife, bought her a second larger one the following New Year but tbh she loves using them as they really are a nice piece of kit.
 
We are waiting till the new year sales, we have both been lusting after a new tent, that will be our Xmas treat, I will get her a little something for the day though.

Got mine sorted now, ended up getting her a fit bit. I thought about it before but thought better of a present that subliminally said 'get running' would not go down well, but then she started dropping hints.

Of course only the limited edition lavender and rose gold option for an added cost was the only option. :rolleyes:

I invested in a set of Global's a few years back and have added to it. You cannot believe the difference a good set of knives make. A great investment.

I always try to get my wife what ever she wants, which is usually something expensive for the home. This year she wanted a deep freeze but I'm unemployed so moneys a little tight, so when she found me putting ice cream into a condom....

Mrs Stupar has been treated to tickets to see the Stereophonics play at Glasgow next year as well as various other ancillary stuff.
 
Have a look at Scott Kelby online and reviews. He is very marmite. I like his style and recommend to a fri nd who thought it was terrible.
There are e a series of his books. I stopped at no. 4....

This sort of thing? Will cover more than landscape but some of the skills are useful in all genres.
 
Well My Mrs has just cleaned the shelf on the conservatory and said " could do with one of those little battery vacuums" so just ordered her one :)

I think I'm safe,as I survived getting a oled tv for when she came back from a holiday -she said it would not fit I proved her wrong lol
