Got one at a knock-down price off the sister-in-law and need to get some games. She was into dodgy gaming (it's been chipped so no Xbox LIVE at the moment) but it came with PGR3, Fifa 07, Call Of Duty 3 and a some knock-off copies (DOD4, TW2007).

Ordered Forza 2 today, as I lurve driving games, but anyone got any other suggestions as to good games I should buy?

I like driving games (simulation-types) and love shoot-em-ups (but can't get my head round Halo). Loved Metal Gear Solid on the PS2 – is there anything like that on 360? What about Assassins Creed?

Also, what's the best footy game? Have always played Pro Evo Soccer, as I think FIFA games are a bit pants. What's the latest PES game on 360 and is it any good?
 
If you have COD4 then you arguably have the best FPS available - GRAW/GRAW2 (Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter) is also worth checking out, although they do lose something without the Live! capability - this really does elevate the games to a new level IMO.

I think Forza's great. Although there are newer driving games out now, it is one of the better simulations, as opposed to arcade racer (i.e. PGR 3/4).

Done Assassin's Creed - it is good, but a bit samey. Would suggest waiting till it gets a bit cheaper - would suggest trynig the demo, but I guess you probably can't do that either. Bioshock is worth looking into (cheap), although is a bit different from the norm, in many ways.

PES2008 is out now. I have PES6, which was so-so. You'll have to read up on whether it's any good. FIFA and PES are a lot closer in fanbase these days.

Rainbow Six:Vegas and Vegas 2 are well worth looking at, and Grand Thaft Auto IV is all the rage at the moment, although I don't have it.

Tiger Woods is fantastic, but not a lot of difference between 2006/2007/2008, so don't bother upgrading. Never played MGS, so can't offer any advice on that front.

COD4 is the best first person shooter.
Halo 3 is very good also, worth getting ya head round.
PGR 4 isn't bad.
Tiger woods 08 is the best one they have ever made. 07 had too many problems.
GRAW 2 is very good.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is okay, i'm struggling to get in to it.
Gears of war is good.
Test drive unlimited is very good, ya can drive round for hours on it. 1000 miles of road to discover and ya can go off road and explore. Awesome cars and bikes.

Some games are better for online multiplayer and rubbish for single player and vice versa.
 
I'd say that PGR4 is the best racer on the 360 but if you want a more 'sim' type racer then you've made a wise choice with Forza2.

Assassin's Creed is, IMHO, crap. It's a one-trick pony with regards to gameplay that looks spectacular to start with but bores after a few hours with it's repetition.

A few of my favourites off the top of my head:

Call Of Duty 2 - my favourite videogame ever and it still has a decent amount online players. You could probably get a copy s/h for a tenner or less off eBay. (I'll go against the majority and say that COD4 is much weaker due to the stupid/annoying perks system. Just MHO.)

Halo3 - a superb shooter. Very different gameplay to the COD franchise.

Geometry Wars - Live! Arcade game, about 4 quid. Horribly addictive.

Oblivion - if you like RPG games then this one will suck your life away throughout it's 100+ hours gametime.

Bully - I like this one more than GTA4 but it has some very annoying load screens as it's a tarted up PS2 port. (Rent it first maybe?)

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - great fun as an offline co-op game.

Guitar Hero II - rock on!
 
MGS4 is out right now so grab that, COD4 if you like the multiplayer aspect [but your console might be banned as its been chipped] and I'd say grab Colin McRae Dirt :)
 
forgot about Colin McRae Dirt - very very good game. rubbish multiplayer though.
 
Agree with MisterRigsby about Guitar Hero 2, great fun!

ORANGE BOX is an absolute must have, a compilation that includes what have become two of my all time favourite games. Portal is one of them, I played it from start to finish then did it all again! The other is Team Fortress 2... it's a hoot:

Ordered myself a new console off ebay yesterday that has no 'hooky' chip isnide it, so will be online. DOD4 is deffo gonna get a thrashing :)
 
Battlefield bad company is out soon and that looks really good.

assassin creed i didnt like when i was watching it being played but you can pick it up for £10 2nd hand now. Mass Effect is nice as well, but need to invest a lot of time.

GTA4 would probably give you some good entertainment and with the added (delayed) content for it coming out it will have a little more life.

Mind you I like all of the halo's, Master Chief rocks :lol:

Does anyone know if I can just plug in one of those USB wireless dongle things instead of buying the Xbox version, which is £50? I have an Apple Airport base station running my network at home and rather than having the 360 wired, thought I'd go wireless.
