Hey all as you can see by my post count im pretty new here .. so hello all ....lol.

If its possible I would like some advice if anyone can help me.

I have a nikon D3000 with two lenses.

standard AF-S / VR 18-55 nikkor 1:3.5 - 5.6 G

Tamron 70-300mm AF 1:4-5.6 TELE-MACRO (1:2)

These are great and I am doing ok with them, but cant help wanting more zoom....lol

I went to a nature reserve today and have taken a load of pics which have turned out ok, but could have been better with a little more distance in my camera.

Im thinking of getting a convertor ...

1 to save money
2 to give me some more distance.

From what I can understand this X2 SHOULD filt my d3000 but I would like a bit of advice if it actually will, and what kind of results I will get from using something like this.

I have looked into buying a bigger lens, something along the lines of a 500 - 600mm .. but the cost is very high compared to a convertor.

so are these things worth the money and do they produce decent shots.

and finally more importantly... will that one fit my camera and lenses.

thanks in advance

the quality of a tc on your lenses will not be good, + it will af like poo,if it does at all, tc are really to use with prime lenses.
if you save you can get a siggy 170-500mm for about £300 to £400.

Great advice ..thankyou very much..

I guess its the manfrotto tripod for the time being then... lol

One more question.. Sigma lenses are ok ??... kinda like a tamron i guess.. a decent 3rd party lens that does a pretty decent job ?

Thanks again.

I agree with the others. Your lenses are not intended for use with teleconverters. If you could find a TC which would physically fit, you would have no AF and the image quality would be substantially degraded.

If in doubt, check the manufacturer's web site to see whether they recommend using a TC with a specific lens. If they don't.... there's probably a reason ;)

Yes, spot on. Some Sigma lenses are very good. Some are less good. But then you could say exactly the same of Nikon.
