A few weeks ago I asked for some advice on what Fuji camera to get - it was between X-T2 and XT30. After looking around a bit and having a think I have changed my choice slightly (partly based on advice you guys) between X-T2 and X-H1. Has anyone got experience of either/both of those?

Price of x-H1 isn’t too much more than x-T2. I like the idea of a better EVF and IBIS. Also, ergonomically it won’t be too big a jump down in size from my D610. I found the X100S annoyingly fiddly.

It feels like the X-T range gets all the attention but the X-H1 is supposedly the ‘flagship’ model. I wonder why that is.

any thoughts welcome!

Personally, the X-H1 would be my choice, just for the IBIS.

I think there is an X-H2 rumoured.

X-H1 all the way for me, I don't like cameras to be too small and I love having IBIS. I owned the X-T1 in the past, which is similar to the T2, and I mostly used it with the battery grip attached, just prefered a bit more heft. A couple other reasons in favour of the H1; much nicer shutter release and feels much better built with the better default grip. I never once felt like I needed a battery grip for it.

This is pretty much why I think if I decide to upgrade my X-T2 it'll be to an X-H2 rather than whatever X-T version is out. The X-T line is just a shade too small for me.

They did make the T4 a bit chunkier, because they finally added IBIS to the T series mainly. I'd still prefer the H1 right now, the faster AF is all I see as reason for the T4 over it, and I've never been found wanting with the AF on the H

I swapped my XT2 for a H1 just before lockdown and there's no way I'd go back. Even though the sensor is the same, it's just a nicer camera to use in all sorts of ways. The only thing I genuinely don't like is the details exposure compensation button, it's a pain compared to the dial on the xt's.

The X-H1 was an oddball - 'top of the range' but launched a bit late - not long before the X-T3 appeared and eclipsed it. Physically its size and styling sets it apart from the X-T range.

So it looks like it didn't sell well. Fuji enced up with stock to clear as the X-T4 was being readied for launch.

So there is a population of X-H1 users who came a long late in the day - attracted by price of a wave of discounted new, refurb, and used X-H1 bodies.

I'm one of them. I didn't aquire a X-H1 to be my primary camera - it was bought because it was a well featured older model as a backup body and the idea that the IBIS might be useful from time to time and it was weather resistant. A good value backup to the X-T30.

Thing is - if you pick up and use the X-H1 then *if it works for you* its size doesn't feel so bad, it has a substantial grip, a lovely EVF, and a sublime shutter release. Even the little LCD top panel seems like a nice touch - you get battery and card status even before you pick it up and switch it on. It may not matter that its sensor and AF are a slightly older generation. Maybe first choice on many occaisons rather than just a backup.

Yeah, they’re going on eBay for less than the X-T3. The idea of ‘flagship’ model is weird. I guess it’s the same with Nikon/canon - who do you know who actually owns a Nikon D6 or 1D. It’s just got their latest tech. I guess I was just surprised after considering the X-T line that there was this affordable, really well-built body that I hadn’t even considered! As I say, coming from a D610 it definitely won’t feel too big! I’m also used to a nice OVF so I was concerned that an ‘average’ EVF wouldn’t be as enjoyable to use.

The X-H1 has several key advantages over the X-T2 and these are the reasons why I upgraded

1) IBIS - never really missed it on the X-T2 but now I have it, I would miss it if I went backwards and it makes sense of the XF16-55mm F2.8 lens
2) Bigger Grip, balances much better with heavier lenses
3) Higher resolution EVF - nothing not to like (though this is on the X-T3)

But if you bought into the Fuji system for retro-styling and controls, the X-H1 is much more DSLR like than the X-T series.

The X-H1 is a nice all round package, the sensor in real world terms gives a very similar output to the next generation X-trans, but its AF speed is slower than the X-T3/X-T4

Its all down to what is important to you.

Given the choice of X-T2 v X-H1 I would take the latter everyday of the week and the 'only' reasons to choose the X-T2 would be price (if that was your limit price) and obsession with retro styling/controls.

I've still got both, but there is no doubt that the X-H1 is the better of the two.

I`ve got both, and am currently selling my T2. As much as I love the knobs and dials, for me the H1 is perfect for my needs, especially being old and a bit shakey ;) The IBIS really does help.

Another vote for the XH1 here, when I moved into the Fuji system last year, IBIS and weather sealing were on my must have list. So it was either the XH1 or XT4. Cost was the deciding factor between the 2! but I do enjoy the form factor too (I'd add a grip to am xt4 anyway)
