Ello,

I only joined today and have already been blown away by the amount of help and constructive feedback there is on here! :eek:

I'm really chuffed to have found this forum...

For about 2 years I've been snapping with a Fuji S7000, which was great as a first 'proper' camera to learn all about ISOs, Aperture, exposure etc. I've just gone and ordered a Nikon D80 which I'm looking forward to.

Most of my stuff ends up in Caravan and Motor Caravan Magazines, backing up articles I write. It's great to have stuff published, but after a while it stifles creativity a bit because magazines these days are becoming quite formulaic and want the same snaps of the different vans. But I guess the challenge is to make it a little bit different yet still acceptable.

Here's my pic that is apparently going on the cover of the Feb issue of Caravan Mag:

I hasten to add that I'm still only in my 30s and enjoy kitesurfing, mountain biking, and windsurfing, despite the preconception of caravanners! In fact, it's nice to try and capture 'cool caravanning' on an image.

Already I've been blown away/inspired/depressed by the some of the amazing stuff I've seen on here, I can't wait to start posting a few more of my own and trawling through everyone's pix!

The pic is worthy of the cover of the Feb issue although it could be improved...Now where are the Brainiac:Science Abuse team? :naughty:

Thanks for the messages. Yes, I see that pic can be improved, but it was just the nearest example to hand. Caravan photography has its own little foibles and quirks just like everything else... it's so easy to end up with an overexposed van and underexposed everything else, or a totally underexposed shot altogether. I soon learned to up the exposure 2/3 - 1 stop on exterior shots, pulling down the flyscreens on interior shots (it pleasingly 'white-outs' the windows and doesn't show the distractions outside) and to expose for the woodwork inside as interior light levels are all over the place.

I'm looking forward to posting some of my failures and triumphs for appraisal. I'd never send my pix to a photo magazine as I often feel they're not living in the real world when it comes to critiquing.

I still have my Fuji S7000, its a special camera! I then moved onto a D70 and currently use a D200 ... mmmmmmm

I love the shot and look forward to seeing more :)

I'm very caravan friendly.

I'd love one myself, but unfortunately we can't afford one yet.
