As an interesting aside. Compare the above to a modern day "home" "game". DCS World. Almost certainly the pinnacle of modern air combat simulation. The "cinematography" in these guys demos and yearly reviews are amazing, with amazing choice of music. In terms of realism, they sell it to a few militaries for training and they hold special events which put "Sim pilots" against "real pilots" online. Like esports.
What does not come across in them, is the sheer immersion when you run this in VR. I will vouch that 100% of the footage in their promo's is in game footage. Even in VR. Nor does it really show that the details of the graphics pale in comparison with the detail of the weapons simulations. Flying an F18 at night in the gulf in pitch blackness, head down in the colour LCD displays for the 'real' aircraft systems showing threats, friends, and an IR high zoom camera and laser, to drop bombs on tanks sleeping, from 20,000ft... then flying home as dawn breaks through the layers of clouds .. back to the carrier. There is nothing like it for high "brow" simulation and graphics. The only downside, the hardware to run it realisticly is £1000-2000, £3000 if you want VR, all the test hardware, and as high as you want to go from there.
