Congratulations! It's always cool to have work published, especialy for the first few times I would imagine. What is with the sunglasses idea though, I have seen it before elsewhere, your is very good but why? I'm sorry I just don't get it?

why not? Have you seen the winning entry? Sun in the palm of your hand... been done a million times.. but it won. I'm sure it's everyone's ultimate aim to shoot something that's never been done before.

Well done Charlotte.. i think it helped that you got down nice and low to shoot this  (just kidding)

Thanks guys :D

The thinking behind the sunglasses, is that we were out on a night meet round Salford Quays and everyone was fiddling with expensive filters and getting nice effects. So I though pfft, who needs filters and used my Primarni sunglasses hehe. I like it :D

I've used sunglasses as a stand in filter many times :)

Well done on getting published.

well done its always nice to discover someone else likes your ideas.
It is a good pic and I do like the fact it looks like the picture in the specs is of somewhere else.

All three are nice shots, but assuming that they are listed as winner, second place, third place from the top down...I have to say that on grounds of originality alone I would have reversed the order.

Well done, Charlotte!

I was thinking the same tbh, my cheap sunglasses from Asda always leave with me with a great view of the sunset & I'm disappointed when I take them off

Well done on your publication, I like it :)

Nice pic. Well done.

well done! l Was there when you took that one ! it on the night of the photo meet earlier in the year at Salford quays

Well not quite, but a kind gentleman informed me that one of my piccies is in a magazine :o :o

How exciting!!!

Its here http://www.walkmag.co.uk/features/and-the-winner-is-8/

I bet your photo stream is full of ingenuity and originality!

[Checks to make sure it's not a C&C thread]

What a great pic! Not an original idea (I have a lovely photo of Stonehenge with the sun going down behind it, taken using a pair of cheapo sunglasses as an ND filter) but I love the rose tinted grad effect.

There's nothing quite like seeing your work in print, is there? I was lucky enough to be invited to one of Amateur Photographer's shoot with an expert days a couple of years ago - mainly because I was relatively local and had volunteered myself as a short notice extra body for any such events in the South West and had several of my shots printed in the mag. I've also got some pics on a friend's hotel's site, for which I'm still getting free coffee! TBH, it would probably have worked out cheaper for her to have hired a pro - several years of 4 coffees per day for 2 weeks adds up, even at cost price! I've also recently shot a few promo shots for a local college to use on a future brochure or prospectus - looking forward to seeing them in print too.

As I said, lovely pic, shows great imagination and improvisation. I would a ggree with Derik (Summerstar) that the order should be reversed - IMO, the girl holding the sun is the weakest of the 3 (not going to say why - the author isn't here to defend it) with the sunset behind the salt marsh and your sunglasses sillouette taking a joint first place. Be proud and keep snapping!

Nod.
