Wow! did you see that!

Noooo! Have I missed it? I'm a huge Mike Oldfield fan! If it wasn't for his legendary hit album, Tubular Bells that got released on the fledging Virgin Record label, Virgin would have never taken off.
Will that programme get repeated? The man's a musical master. And he suffered years of depression and anixety due to the sudden fame his LP had brought him. Even after all this time and after 2 more "updated" versions of the Tubular Bell album, he felt that the LP didn't "sound right". Spoken like the true perfectionist that he is.
I've still got the LP on original vinyl!

The "live" version on BBC4 the other night I thought was superb. About a dozen or more musicians and a choir - it had much more light and shade than the original did. M.O. played guitar and bass. Of the other musicians I only recognised Steve hillage and Mike Ratledge but it gives you an idea of their calibre. I don't know if its available on disc but as the deadly smurf says you can get it on iplayer. (All a bit too high tech for me...)

Did you see any of the other "prog rock" programmes on BBC4 over the w/e? There was an interview with Mike Oldfield and lots of other interesting types. Really good stuff.
