I was expecting my Canon 40D 17-85 kit to be delivered by DHL yesterday, unfortunately I had to be out all day until about midnight so was expecting a card through the letterbox stating they would make another delivery attempt the next day, when I would be in.
Now the "would you believe it" bit...................have you guessed already? for those who haven't..............they left a a card saying they had left a parcel in my blue bin!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my blue recycling bin which stands at the side of my house which is not overlooked by any neighbours because I have none!!!. nearly £1000 of gear dumped in my bin!!!!!
I was speechless !

Oh and according to their tracking data it has been signed by me but the driver has spelt my name wrong!!.

Good job it wasn't bin collection day!!!

,Btw I was not left speechless for long as I soon had the parcel ripped open and stayed up until the late hours of this morning trying everything out.
Yes, I could have thought of a few things I could have done to set the alarm bells ringing at DHL including those already mentioned in jest, but I am an honest person and would not attempt fraud, also it has probably been delivered by some scroat who has only just started for them temporarily to cover the busy Christmas period so to avoid a brick through the window or worse I have decided not to get the guy the sack buy ringing to complain.....yes some might think I should do, but as it stands yes I am still a bit annoyed, but my goods have been delivered, undamaged, and he still has his job.

worth letting them know
might not have such a good outcome next time

No way, because of the previously mentioned reasons I am looking after no.1

Yes, an anonymous call could be a possibility, adding a limited amount of information so if the gaffer were to publicly warn his men the guilty party would get the message and not risk his job again.

I got a note through the door yesterday saying that my parcel from Amazon had been left in the back porch (which, curiously enough, we don't have at our house?) I went into the yard to see whether he had left it in the outhouse & it turns out that he had just thrown it over the wall into the yard!! We have to block the gate from the inside as the lock is being replaced so there is no way that he could have gotten in to gently place it on the floor! In addition to this it was absolutely ****ing it down all day & the box was soaked by the time I got home!

Wasn't camera equipment (or I would have had the postmans head mounted on a spike for all to see ) but was an expensive present for someone (electrical too so I've no idea whether or not it'll still work - can't open the box either :()

moomike, take a photo of it and contact Amazon, I'm sure they'll replace it on spec.
