Heloooooooo there!

You might have seen a couple of my posts recently that mention I've started a new blog - ukgigsandfestivals

It's very much is the begining stages but I hope to expand it and make it successful. To achieve this I need to be covering more gigs in more cities and with better writing.

If you would like to shoot gigs / write reviews for the site please let me know. At the moment there is no payment I can offer as I'm not making a penny from it. *I'd apply for the photopass for you and that would mean you wouldn't have to pay out for a ticket. I hope that within a year, with some hard work, I can make this a "dotcom" and then sell ad space therefore gererating money, meaning I can pay togs/reviewers.

If you / anyone you know might be interested leave a message in this thread / PM me here or email me at ukgigsandfestivals@googlemail.com

*EDIT - Of course there is no guarantee I can get the pass you want but as the site becomes bigger hopefully I'll be able to get passes for more / bigger gigs.

Just thought I'd give this (just one) bump up the forum for anyone who may be interested but who didn't see it when first posted.

I'm absolutely rubbish at writing reviews (seriously, a 10 yr old could do better) and I need to have at least photos of gigs outside of Manchester.

Please help...pretty please :)

What area are you looking to cover?
I'm interested, I follow a band around, the odd pass may be useful.

The main problem I get is light, well they are gigs. But more than willing to give it a bash for you.

Just to clarify, you want someone to take free pics for your blog and write the reviews?

Can't understand why you've not been inundated with offers

Any type of bands really...I want to have a good variety. (I realise you may have meant location...anywhere and everywhere really)

Feel free to PM me to chat. Let me know if there are any particular gigs you'd like to cover and I'll see what I can do.

I don't know the Worcester area. Is that the town/city you would usually shoot in or is it a nearby town? (so that I can google what's on)

Also do you have a Flickr etc that I can be nosey and have a look at? :)

Thank yoooooou!

Jessica

:(

I would love for people to help me out yes. I know all I can offer is the odd free gig ticket, but I started this blog because no website I contacted wanted a photographer, and I wanted to shoot for something...It certainly helps to get passes. I'd like to make it succesful and hopefully I'll eventually be able to pay people, but we all have to start somewhere.

I'm covering all that I can in Manchester, and soon Edinburgh when I move up there in September but I want to cover all over the UK and I can't do that myself.

If I'd have seen something like this a couple of months back offering the odd free gig ticket I'd have jumped at it. I'm just trying to get this going, I realise I don't have much to offer but it's up to people wether they fancy doing it or not.

Wouldn't be easier to hook up with photographers who are already covering these gigs and asking them for content for your blog?

I wouldn't know how to find out who's shooting what, but agree with you that it's a good idea. I'll keep that in mind.

I may be able to help. If I could send suitable gig pictures to my agency as well, If I've not already been asked to cover by them.

Of course. You'd be free to use/sell your images as you wish. They remain in your control at all times. Even if I was paying you I woudn't impose restrictions. You would be credited on any images used, and a link to your site. I'm more than happy for you to have a tag / discreet watermark on the image aswell.

Feel free to PM/email me if you want to discuss further.

Yes I would, we would need to discuss terms first, I do try to sell images and prints to the bands, I also shoot for my university newspaper but if your happy to share it seem's worth it

I'm Exeter and Bude based but travel a bit, especially if tickets are +1's ;)

*Edit - I'll email you later I am on my desktop atm and its being a pain*

I'd actually jump at this oppurtunity it's basically a great way to get experience with free entry to gigs,Depending on how well the site goes i'm sure you'll either get magazines or people asking to buy pics,Not many people can get passes but if you have backing it makes it easier,A good idea OP and i hope it goes well for you,If you're still looking for a london based photographer in 3 monthes i will be there then and would be glad to help :)

Richard - Thank you. The reason I started it was because I couldn't get passes and I desperately wanted to, as to me Live music + Photography is the best thing in the world.

I really hope I can make the blog succesfull and get passes for bigger gigs and then eventually pay people.

It's really nice to hear some encouraging words :)

Are you just looking for live band type gigs - shots of the band on stage etc, or would you be interested in DJ type gigs - crowd shots etc?

I do not go in for modern stuff, but have many contacts in the 1950's rockn'roll / rockabilly scene, and also the 1960's Northern Soul scene.

I may be able to put you in contact with people if it would be of interest.

When I was out and about on the scene I would photograph bands etc, but also write reviews for my magazine "Rocket".

I may be able to fo something myself on occasion, but due to family commitments, probably not often. I do know though that there are other's on the rockin' scene that would welcome some outside exposure.

PM me.

i would be more than happy to help even with no money, just for the experience, but i havent really done any before. iv had the odd go but not with my camera and only at very small local gigs. i have done dinner parties/discos though?

im based in Lincolnshire.

I am going to try and get some gigs done to get better at it when they come up so i'll see

I'm getting back into this now I'm in the North East.

feel free to e-mail me, gig photos are in my links.

for an amateur, sharing gig photos etc, always good fun.
aslong as the togger keeps the rights to the pics and credit etc.
I used to shoot for our local culture magazine website and mag occasionally. Lots of fun.

I'll register some interest in this.

I'll drop you a mail later.

To everyone who has messaged me here/PM/email I'll message you all back properly tomorrow. I've just got in from a friend's gig and am in work very early in the morning so need to get some sleep.

Thank you

Jessica

I already take a few pictures of bands that play Exeter (not that many), mostly smaller ones. I contribute them to http://www.noizemakesenemies.co.uk sometimes, and also have my own attempt at a blog (although this is essentially just a mashup of my writing/photography that appears elsewhere).

But I would love to contribute things your way, they wouldnt always be exclusive but if I'm taking shots anyway I can see if you like them..

I missed it when you first posted, but you know I'm in! :) If I'm not stepping on your toes in Manchester that is

It sounds really good! I did a couple for one called Guestlist, which does just the Manchester stuff, but it didn't seem to be going far...so would love to be in something from the beginning and help it succeed :)

In all due respect, the lack of offers i would imagine may be due to the fact, this users website is as stated "new". Thus, managers/publicity agents for the band wouldnt find this a valuable marketing tool. Obviously, this depends on the bands size, but if they are small you probably wont need to shoot for anyone to get a pass.

Eeek...I wasn't getting email notification of new replies...how do I fix that?

Anyways...I think I've replied to everyone now in some form. If I haven't please shout at me. I am slowly applying for passes.

Good new is I finish work at the end of July(ish) and then have a month before I go to college so I can spend lots of time sorting things out.

Ooooh yes...one thing. The site is now accessible at www.ukgigsandfestivals.com it's still on blogspot at the moment and re-routes from that address.

Excellent! PM me over your email address. I can add it to my snazzy new excel file (OK, so maybe not snazy...but it is new)

Yay!! Not stepping on my toes at all...I'll be in Edinburgh soon anyways (:):'() and there is so much going on in Manchester that I often find things clash Drop me your email via PM. You're the only Mancunian to get in touch so far.

Despite what seemed like a non starter at first, I have now been inundated with responses. My poor PM inbox is crying that it's almost full to bursting. I have almost 20 photographers that have registered their interest...but no girls...apart from myself of course.
