I have been given a nice gift from my partners grandfather in the guise of a pentax af200s slr camera body with tokina 70 - 210mm lens, hanimex 75 - 300mm lens and what looks like a pentax 30 - 50mm lens.
Lenses are intact with no issues and as much as to my understanding, camera body is fully working.
I am more interested in the lenses and would they possibly fit any of the modern dslr bodys out there?

Since it's pentax, yes they will most likely fit new pentax bodies.

Im assuming its just pentax bodys then or are there other manufacturers bodys that they may fit also?

Err a Pentax AF200S is a flash gun, look for the name on the camera body, but as a rule with pentax camera's, if its autofocus then PKAF fit lenses will work as will PK fit lenses,if its manial then any PK fit lens will work as will older M42 lenses with the adaptor, but beware of ricoh lenses they have a locking pin that can be a problem if not removed.

Its an ME super, might help if i get things right to start with.

i have a couple of old m42(pentax fitment) lenses which i use with an adapter ring to fit onto my sony a390. as far as i know m42 lenses can also be fitted to canon bodies, but not nikon's.

if you search for m42 lens on ebay there are hundreds of them, some are much more expensive than others but a lot can be picked up for a couple of quid. a £15 adapter ring is all you need and your good to go on either of the above mentioned brands. they are used in manual mode with the aperture being set on the lens and the shutter speed set on the camera body, and you have to manually focus on your subject.

i'm using them as a cheap way to learn the basics of photography rather than purely relying on the camera to do all the legwork.

Lol.. we've all done it scott.

In that case any PK,PKA fit lens or M42 using an adaptor, I would say go for the PK mount lenses, they're cheap enough, its mainly the 50mm's that can be a little pricey.

PK is pentax baynot mount.
PKA is pentax baynot with the A setting for camera's that have an A setting on the shutter speed dial.

Same as me.
I have wanted an slr for a while but have steared clear due to cost.
At least this way I can have a go without breaking the bank.

Thanks for the helpfull info.

Further to Ian's comment above, I've got a few PK lenses (genuine Pentax - not 3rd party) and fancy getting an adapter to fit them to my 50D. I'm a bit worried though that some of the adverts for adapters advise removing pins and/or levers from the lenses to ensure no contact with the mirror. I wouldn't like to have to hack the lenses about (28 and 35mm f2 and 50 f1.2 are reasonably collectable now)
Does anyone have first hand experience on this please ?

Ive recently bought an M42 adapter for my 500D, and the lenses just screw straight onto that, and click onto the camera, no need to cut the tabs off, etc.
