I would like a small interchangeable lens camera with a wide prime or a compact with a very good lens so I can take it everwhere with me. I don't see the point in CSC/EVIL camera and then putting a proportionately large zoom lens on it myself as I personally feel I may has well have brought my dslr but I understand other people are different so I'm not trying to raise that point.
Basically I'm after something I can carry in a pocket that is capable of high quality shots. I mainly want it for street photography so if a fixed lens, a wideish one would be best for me.
I have looked at the GF1, ep-1 and the NEX 5 and they seem pretty good but I'm not sure. The new fuji x100 looks good but is waaaaay to much.

Hang around a little longer when the New Oly 12mm f2 comes out (24mm equivalent) and couple with any Panasonic GF or Oly EP body. Simple.

GF1 (or maybe GF2) and 14mm lens is a pretty neat package.

I was out for a walk today with GF1 and 20mm lens in one pocket and 14mm in the other. Didn't feel over-burdened.

Mind you I can't bring myself to sell my LX3. Lovely little camera and is 24mm equivalent at the wide end.

If you're looking for a camera for street photography, the Nex-5 may not be the ideal camera. I have a Nex-5 and have just bought a Panasonic G2 for holiday/family photos for the following reasons:

1) The Nex-5 autofocus misses in over 50% of photos. Even stopped down to maximise DOF. This is not a fault with my camera; several online reviews mention it, and one online review actually posts 2 sample images that are out of focus. My G2 autofocus hits the spot every time.

2) The kit lens and 16mm lens both suffer from awful distortion. This is corrected nicely with my G2.

3) The Nex-5 overexposes, and no exposure compensation is available in iAuto mode. The G2 exposes perfectly.

3) Both Sony lenses are rather poor.

I now use my Nex-5 only with my OM zuiko lenses, which are of course manual focus only, on a tripod. Image quality is superb.

If you are thinking that the Nex-5 has superior image quality to the G2 you are right, but what use is that if your photos are out of focus and overexposed? I now have lovely, pin-sharp holiday photos from my G2.

Sony NEX with novoflex adapter and a couple Leica M mount lenses (Zeiss or Voigtalnder could do) is a serious proposition, for landscape and some set up shoots. Sony doesn't have any attractive NEX glass themselves. NO viewfinder, and no decent controls so far. I hope this will improve in the next generation of cameras. Ideally FF version will get released with some form of viefinder.

Samsung NX has a much nicer looking lens range, and expanding, but the sensor seems somewhat inferior. Leica M lenses are incompatible, so bigger glass would have to be used. By that time xxxD is just as small.

Oly / panasonic - a bit too small sensor for my liking.

I suppose there are several issues related to sensor size.

Print size could be an issue, but most people never print at a size that would make it one.

There's the possible reduced ability to do massive cropping, but if you frame the shot so that massive cropping isn't required that isn't an issue either.

Noise and dynamic range could be a worry but the latest "small sensor" cameras are improving in these areas and are probably better than some APS-C DSLR's so it's highly unlikely that it'll be a massive issue in the real world.

Could DoF be an issue? Not to most people and in fact some might see a slight advantage.

So I wonder what we're left with? "Mine's bigger than yours?" Hopefully as adults we're beyond that but thinking back to the Canon MA and magnesium debate I doubt it
