hey guys
its me again
i recently posted a ? on crb checks and although im in the process of sorting that another ? has popped into my mind.

what are the rules about taking photos of people who are out and about and going about their daily business and completly unaware that i think they would make an interesting photo.

if i wanted to enter that photo in a comp say 6 months later am i allowed.

any feedback gratefuly received:shrug:

Don't do it in France! ;)

The French have certain "Privacy" laws which stops philandering husbands being spotted by their wife in the press/media out and about with their "extra-curricular activities"..... :suspect:

You can take anybodies photo, you can use it for editorial usage if you so please without their consent. Anything commercial needs a Model release.

Not sure where a competition would fall into that, but I'd be inclined to tell them at the time you've taken their photo. Just out of politeness sake. You never know, they might like it and you might make a sale!

I'd say a competition for a magazine or website comes under editorial.

I would say you should check with the person after youve taken the shot, if they mind, just to play it safe. Most people wont mind, but youll get the odd "Nob".
