Worst ever film award

Bonfire of the vanities
- only time I ever tried to deliberately go to sleep in a cinema, just to kill time.

Se7en
- Was heavily trailed as a classic old time thriller/crime film. On viewing it was a sick sort of semi horror film not resembling any kind of old style detective film in any way. I walked out less than half an hour after it started feeling cheated by the advertising for the film content. Later in the week I spoke to someone who viewed to the end, to discover I had successfully worked out which person was the killer and what the end of the film was. Glad I never waited through the whole film...

I don't go to the cinema but wasted a couple of quid on After Earth written by Will Smith apparently as a "vehicle" for his son Jayden - absolute crap - he's have been better off spending the money on acting lessons for Jayden!

.

Surely only films that have a chance, or at least some expectation, of being good should be on the list. I can't believe anyone went to see Sharknado or Iron Sky, with high expectations. I (occasionally) watch some of these "B" movies, to find the odd one that transcends poor, and emerges the other side! eg Bad taste, and Battle Royale. I have Dead Snow waiting in my DVD collection for a spare evening.

Did Sharknado ever get a theatre release or was it straight to TV/DVD?

That black and white one which I think was called the Artist. Won awards apparently. Tedious and predictable in the extreme. The trailer seemed to infer there was a lot of the dog. The dog was the only good bit.

Yes we saw that I was hoping for a decent Sci Fi but it as you said rubbish

Sharknado was made for TV.

Sharknado three is, I believe, slated for limited theatre release.

Does a film have to have a theatrical release to qualify for the Razzies?

The worst one I've seen in a long time
"Under the skin" with Scarlett Johansson.
Yes I did sit through it all hoping it would get better, but it just got worse!
What a pile of crap, even if she did get her kit off at one point.

It was that enthralling l fell asleep .............. or perhaps that was the company .......

the final Hobbit film. What a disappointment those where.

Watched that earlier and have to agree, enjoyed the first two

I once had the misfortune of being locked in a hotel room in Thailand, with a tv that wouldnt turn off, and Son Of Mask playing in English.

Worst 90 minutes of my life. Period.

couldn't agree more.

cant believe nobody has mentioned any of the fast furious films. They make my blood boil!

I love Scarlett Johansson, nothing she is in can be crap, especcially if she gets her kit off.

M Night Shayamalan Signs and The Village these stick in my mind as films where I felt cheated for the cinema ticket price its not that they were boring and you fell asleep for me they truly sucked.
Signs was a decent film, but agree about The Village

Fellini Satyricon. I could not understand it at all. Managed ok with 8 1/2. But not Satyricon.

The Avengers (not Marvel - the one about John Steed and co with Ralph Feines and Uma Thurman) - it was clearly supposed to be humourous but most of the humour was unintentional

I Am Legend.....wish I had just watched the trailer and left it at that

Sharknado 2 - The Second One.

I found it while channel surfing and couldn't believe it could be worse than Sharknado. It was.

I think you're lightweights and cry-babies, all of you! :p

I challenge anyone to sit through A Zed and Two Noughts and if you can, Peter Greenaway made plenty more artsy films for the terminally affected! :banghead:

There are lots of bad films, but mostly you're well aware they're awful and can avoid them. The worst are the "stealth" crap movies - supposed to be good, but.....

I go with two already mentioned, Hurt locker, and Gravity. Apparently some rave reviews, but....

But the question remains have you actually seen it?
I like(d) her too, well up till point anyway

All The Oceans Sequels and The Whole 10 Yards need to be in with a shot for worst movie too.

I have seen it, the scottish version of Species :) It wasnt her best but neither was it her worst, 8 legged freaks anyone :)
The nude scenes were very well done I thought, good use of lighting to pretty much only hint at what is on view. Even @Pookeyhead would approve :)

I would just like to add that Scarlett doesnt need to get her kit off for me to enjoy her films, I wouldnt want to be accused of objectification :)

Ooohh I'd forgotten about A Zed & Two Noughts with the Michael Nyman soundtrack coma inducing

But that's a whole new discussion surely? ;)
Who actually "gains" from that? I'd say it was more a symbiotic "relationship" ;)

Watched it last night on Bluray and thought it was very good, Billy Connolly was superb!

Yes I remember watching the film thinking that the ending with the water killing them was pants :D
Someone had been searching for an ending and by chance stumbled on day of the Triffids
(They keep telling us too much salt is bad for you, Certainly applies if you are a triffid anyway :D )

I liked it.

Pretty much anything with J Lo in it.

I think the majority of films released each year are pretty rubbish. The problem lies when you're expecting something great and you're disappointed. what jumps to mind from last years hyped films is Birdman for me.

If we're judging this by hype vs delivery, then the clear winners are...
Titanic (only film I've gone for a pee during... and nearly didn't come back)
Avatar
Star Wars Episode 1

There's so much amateurish claiming of bad films in this thread. I managed no more than 25min of Anger Management before closing it down from embarrassment and finding something else, but that possibly doesn't count because some of the later parts are actually mildly funny. Team America: world police was significantly worse, because there were no funny bits anywhere it that piece of stupidity. However the worst film I can remember watching for a long time is Biggles Adventures In Time: low budget in a bad way, classic 1980s film with all the bad acting that implies and the only connection with W E Johns books was some of the names. I watched all the way through because I so wanted to like it, but there was nothing redeeming about it, at all.

If you must bring up recent films then my dishonourable mentions would be:
Pacific Rim for having too much CGI in place of giving the humans in it any kind of basic sense at all - not funny, just stupid.
Tron 2, for taking a franchise with a legacy of amazement and making it mundane with a run of the mill concept that all the eye-candy can't save.
