Worrying alert - bogus photographer

:nono: thats not allowed

Sorry - what's not allowed - the warning post? If not I'll remove it.

I must admit I would want to know the source of something like this before pasting it on forums etc. I'm not doubting your intentions at all but I presume this came via e-mail, there are a lot of e-mail hoaxes around and this looks suspiciously like one of them.

For all we know there could a photographer by that name in the area and if these allegations are unfounded it could do him irreperable harm - both personally and professionally.

Just my tuppence worth.

The warning came through the council childcare services alert system. It's gone out to all early years and childcare services around the country. Obviously I removed all the contact details.

I also checked for spam before I posted it.

But if there's any worries I'll delete the thread

edit: erm I don't seem to be able to?

That is an extremely serious allegation, Anita. For your sake I hope you can solidly back it up. Else you may face prosecution and conviction for 'defamation of character', a.k.a. character assassination. Which can get very expensive...!

I don't think there's any defamation of character. She's passing on information (presumably) from the police, asking all childminders to be vigilant of someone doing the same again. She does work for Suffolk Council, in the childcare service, so I would assume that she is doing the right thing.

JMO :)

Alfred D. I removed the quote from your post as it contained details of the original allegation.

I think we need to be cautious here, e-mails can purport to be from anyone, and we all know there are a load of hoax ones around.

The OP has asked for the thread to be deleted. I'm not sure thats necessary with the thread edited now?

OTH, what sense does this thread make now that the original post has been deleted...? Imo better cut the whole thing and forget about it.

We don't delete threads as a matter of forum policy :)

I think it would have been fine without the photographers name. :)

So reinstate that original post, but edit the name! So that new thread readers can at least know what it is about...

I didn't see the original post, but reading the replies I'm tempted to refer the OP to snopes.com...

Wasn't on snopes - I checked, but I was trying to let this thread die...

Hate to be nosey but could somebody fill us in on the alligation or what not, its a bit of strange thread otherwise. Although i can see the huge problems by the sound of things so if you cant give the rest of us any details ah well...

UK Childrens information services broadcast an alert from Suffolk police about a photographer trying to get access to children. I cut and pasted the alert which gave some specific information, so on reflection it was deleted.
