I came across these webcams this evening and it's the best site I've come across. It gives you a huge choice of the kind of viewing you like to watch..cities-bridges..airports...clubs ,,skiing in the Alps...etc. Click on 'Interest" along the top line to see the list of options. I've just been watching a busy street in a city in Japan where it's still dark. You can even watch Humming birds, animals..whatever. At the moment, go to the US and South America to see daylight footage . I was unable to go full screen on my iPad,I got a message that told me my browser didn't support it so I just enlarged it using two fingers..the usual method. . It was fine on my iMac. To see where/what you are looking at just scroll below the footage and the information is there. You have to click on the down arrow to get rid of the long-box advert on the bottom. You can get hooked on it :)

I used to watch one of these, a different one to yours but he same type of thing. They can be addictive :D

I recall a similar site some while back that engaged my attention.

A quick look and I noted the Skid Row one.......a quick view and what struck me was voyeurism of misery. This was compounded by the (inevitable) adverts.......the one showing was for a luxury bedroom at what by it's name was an exclusive hotel!

How bl**dy ironic is that, an advert like that above the skid row webcam feed :headbang:

Is that the ones where people had forgotten to change the default username and password ?
Then the website found them and published them online ?

Earlier on, I looked at that one. Pretty awful. Grim. tbh.I was surprised to see it features in the "most viewed' category so I think you have a point re "voyeurism of misery."

I can't believe the company would have asked for it's ads to be shown specifically on the Skid Row webcam. It was advertising Temu when I looked just now. I went in on another two and it was still Temu. So, periodically, that ad will show on all the webcams depending on the deal a company has.

When I looked..at 7.50 am local time..3.50pm here..there was a van parked there with Pastor..whoever.. written on it and a pastor was moving amongst the unfortunates and marginalised handing out food parcels. It seems there are many organisations that go there to help the people. I've just done a check..It seems, as here, many of the homeless are drug addicts and, in the case of the US, it's fentanyl. Trump is waging war on importations of it and it's why the military has attacked the Venezuelan boats .It's one reason ,he said why he imposed high tariffs on Canada,Mexico and China. 65% (50,000) of deaths in the US from drug overdose last year involved fentanyl. Not all are drug addicts, many are just homeless. The Skid Row district has about 5000 homeless on the streets. of which half have serious mental health issues. Life expectancy ? 48 years of age. The US has a housing problem just as we do. As with any such problem anywhere,it requires investment with a multi-faceted approach. The US isn't known for it's benevolence re supporting the less fortunate. As an aside , in LA there are 205,400 millionaires , 480 centi-millionaires ($100million)and 42 billionaires.

Your insight illustrates the yawning chasm between the "haves & have nots" and how dire it is at the extremes of society :(

As for the adverts on the page at the same time as such a webcam feed.....I find it sad that they could not have ensured 'no ads at all' on that page.
Why, well all/most ads are about (profligate?) consumerism. Which is the antipathy of the destitution & squalor of those that are surviving on those streets.
