Today, Sunday 26th April is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.

Is anybody else doing it this year ?

I think I’ll try using the Zero Image 5x4 now I’ve found it after the year long game of hide and seek.

But what to use a a subject? Selfie? Garden? The inside of the shed?

This year is more of a challenge than previous years but I’m sure I’ll come up with something.

I'm looking to do something as well Nick, but it'll have to be very local as it'll need a tripod. :thinking:
 
I'm going to use this homemade contraption...

I got it out a few minutes ago and discovered it has a film in it, on frame one. The shutter was open so I don't know how that happened, anyway I wound it on to frame 2 to start with.
I've got a small stash of OOD Superia 100 to use with it and have a corresponding exposure compensation chart which looks like this...

Meter at f22, read off right hand column.

I know, I'm going to shoot something in the garden or kitchen, much as I would love to get a long exposure in Piccadilly Circus I'm not sure the Corona police would be too impressed.

Depends how far you can stop it down, does it get to f200?

That is a fantastic looking homebuild, I I look forward to seeing the results.
 
Thanks for the heads up Nick, it would seem rude not to. Somewhat unbeleivably I seem to have had less free time on my hands during this quarantine, partly due to the good weather I think, so haven't done any pinholes even though it was one of the many things I thought I'd have lots of time to do.
 
I didn't manage anythin this year, sadly. Last year I had the pinhole on a set of extension tubes, as ISTR it vignetted when straight on the body. But the results were very soft. Someone suggested, IIRC, that the pinhole was the wrong size for flange depth plus extensions, so I had the idea that next time, I would try a whole range of versions of the same image, on the body and with various extension tube combinations.. But sadly, it hasn't worked out this year.

I was impressed by the exposure compensation table that @PeterSpencer produced. I'm just trying to imagine a 110 hour exposure (or even a 29 hour exposure, come to that)!

Not my best first WPPD... Forgot my light meter (aka my phone) so guesstimated the exposures by metering at f22, then mentally working up to f133. Also forgot my reciprocity table/calculator (also aka my phone...) so applied a fudge factor of "a bit" to my FP4 shots. Worked out (aka guessed) exposures of about 3-5 seconds - the film is drying now, and looks very dark and overexposed... Must prepare better next year! I'll still scan them and see what I can get out of them, but don't hold your breath folks!

One acceptable shot - turns out that my Holga WPC was also leaking light like crazy from one side despite the tape... Oh well - a learning experience for next year!

I've tried to submit, but after it says "processing" it just loads a blank page. Is this normal?

Just seen this - I took a picture for last year with my homemade body cap pinhole on my digital body.
Disappointed I missed it this year as I had nothing but time!
Some interesting shots and I'm in awe of the patience involved in shooting pinhole on film
 
I made a bodycap for my (digital) Olympus a couple of years ago.
I'd never thought of combining extension tubes with my homemade "lens". It doesn't improve the quality but it does increase the zoom.
Perhaps I should have another try at creating a better hole this time around :)

A 99p M43 bodycap from ebay, a 3mm drill bit and bit of bog roll cardboard stuck with a pin. Retrotastic pinhole fun!

i best try make an effort seeing as I have suitable kit.

Doubt I’ll post any result elsewhere but on here. Nonetheless I’m up for capturing something pinhole style.
 
I can confirm that I did get out with my recently cquired pinhole camera today and exposed two sheets of fomapan. :)
No results to show yet though.

If possible I’ll try soup them before bedtime then scan tomorrow..... no promises though as I’d rather go to sleep tbh
 
I went out too with the much loved combination of MPP, pinhole and 6x9 back, and for a change I tried colour film in it. Negs are drying but I can already tell there was a winding on issue, some frames are overlapping, it's happened before with that back but not for a while now :bat:

A baseball bat to that 6x9 back might be the best thing for it :exit: :LOL:
 
I got out as well, and was cursed by too much light! First time this year, but f22 at 1/60 is 1/2 sec at f138 and that's not easy to judge. Luckily I had an ND filter that came with the camera, so that made it a manageable 4 secs. Negs are drying, so I've definitely got something. :snaphappy:
 
I managed to get out as well, hopefully theres something there.
 
Very nice Peter, I particularly like the second. I had thought of shooting waterfalls for this but in the end decided to go for bright colours.

Shame about the top of the spire in the last. Fujifilm Superia in MPP with 6x9 back which didn't cock-up the winding on as badly as I thought it might have.
 
I have still yet to soup my efforts ...... I always was the one to let the side down :sorry:

Thanks Chris, I agree that my second one is the strongest. I'm impressed by your colour shots and will certainly be trying out colour film for pinhole sometime soon. Your shots also confirm that pinhole is really meant for closer shots rather than the wide open spaces in most of mine, so that's a lesson learned for next time. :thinking:
 
I was very pleased with how the colours came out, I expected them to be way off due to exposure issues but there has been very little colour correction to these. I was exposing for around 4-8 seconds.

I agree about the close up, the thing I was trying to exploit was the almost infinite DoF with a pinhole so, apart from the church, I was putting the camera really close to the flowers. I'm also tempted to lash up some sort of view finder.
 
Two negs drying :)

One is a non starter....It hasn’t given the result that I expected / hoped for.

The other one, less creative, looks worthwhile scanning and posting up. ;)

I actually use a knackered 35mm slr with a 24mm lens for framing then replace it on the tripod with the Zeroimage, but don't have one of those fancy gadgets that let you swing the camera through 90 degrees directly above the centre column to get tthe full depth of the 6x6 image. Maybe you could design a viewfinder and one of our 3D printer members could produce a prototype? I'm assuming it could work like the framing device in some WLF finder walls and wouldn't actually need a lens. :thinking:
