I had a few pictures done this morning - apparently by the worlds most expensive camera !!

Had an MRI - results on Wedneday ...........

It's a noisy beastie - no good for wildlife. Also not really portable ;-)

I used to work with a portable one...

Good luck on the results.

+1 for good news.

I had 2 Mri's last year, first one I was okay, second one done immediately after I got a panic on, no idea why but very strange feeling.

Noisy you've got that right jeez it sounded like someone wacking the thing with a sledgehammer.

tis a bit odd to know all the hydrogen protons in the area of the scan are getting their enery levels flipped lol

I'm having an fMRI done next friday as part of someones research which I'm quite looking forward to.

Had two MRIs a couple of months ago with a CT scan thrown in for good measure. Asking for 60's music through the headphones was a mistake though  (not sure if they do this at all hospitals)

A bit daunting when you get shoehorned into it and everyone else scuttles off to the control room.

I hope you get good news

If you ask nicely, they'll email you a copy:

I was thinking of using mine as an ID photo where they ask for a head shot. This is quite clearly a head shot :D

Wish you all the best with the results on Wednesday.
I had something similar on Thursday, radiology used to unblock a coronary artery. Quite thought-provoking to see the moving image of your heart and its arteries on a monitor whilst someone is doing a re-bore!

Guys - big hugs all round - thank you x

Just want to know everything is ok at the mo.

I've had tinitus for years, now have pressure & vertigo (only on the right side - within the last 8 weeks).

Will ask for a pic - that is brilliant !!

It was fear of the unknown for me, but really wasn't that bad. You don't feel claustrophobic, there is a little mirror that sits above you, angled so you see the control room. But with my bad eye sight I just saw figures around it !

Glad to hear your results were good.

I've had half a dozen or so head, back, neck MRI scans done over the last five years or so.

The last one was a few months ago. I was in the tube for about 20mins and I fell asleep. It was so quiet compared to the old one which was like being in a dustbin whilst somebody hit it with a hammer.

Glad to hear your results were good.

Unfortunately - no - not good ....................

Waiting for a phone call - which I assume not getting today.

Will find out how bad on Monday / Tuesday .......

Ah I see - fingers crossed for next week then....

mine was a functional MRI ( I was paid woohoo) for research.

lasted about 60mins but had to have my eyes shut as it was an auditory experiment so I fell asleep during the anatomical scan lol

Wouldn't Hubble (and soon James Webb, perhaps?) be the world's most expensive camera?

Good luck Viv...

Ask questions, no matter how silly you think they are, don't worry about how long you take, thats what they're there for, ask them...

You'd be surprised the patients we see who have just seen their ENT consultant, who then ask us questions - because they didn't want to bother the doctor with all these questions...

Thanks Andy will do.

TBH - completely scarred to bits now.

They have told me there is something, but needed the detailed scan that I had on Thursday to see what it is.

Now just waiting ................

We've all got our fingers crossed, Viv.

Luckily only ever had my knee scanned so not claustrophobic for me. Good luck viv.

Thanks for the well wishes guys - hope to report good news soon x

Good luck Viv, really hope things turn out good for you!!!!

Mrs Oggy suffers badly from claustrophobia. They tried to MRI her in a conventional machine, but she just fired herself out in a shivering soggy heap. We then found that there is such a thing as an open MRI scanner. If you have problems, ask for one.

Good luck Viv.

Had 5 of em over the past 2 1/2 years. Been in the standard tube ones & in a nice open sided flat scanner.
The flat scanner was a lot quieter than the tube scanner.
Worst scan was having a contrast scan, 25mins at Gas mk6, then pumped full of contrast dye followed by another 25mins at Gas mk5 till cooked. :-)

Any way, inside my head.

Thanks for the thoughts - just trying to get an appointment now (hopefully for tonight).

All a bit confuising, as I started with an ENT specialist, now need to see Neuro specialist ............

I started by seeing a rheumatologist & ending being passed over to a neurologist when the MRI was clear. Been prodded & poked by a multitude of docs. Various needles shoved in me. Don't think is much left they haven't tried. Lol. ;-)

Right - well, there is good news & news

Good news - at the moment this is not life threatening - which is a huge relief !

News - There is a lesion (about 1cm square), on my brain stem (near the top), will see the neuro consultant, as to how (or if) this is going to be treated.

All in all i'm ok with this now. Just see what next week brings.

Also have an appointment at Physio, for balance therapy - should be interesting ?!?! My best (ha ha) friend reckons i'll have to stand on a space hopper for 3 minutes without falling off !!

 for the good news then!

 Really glad to hear the good news Viv.
Fingers crossed that now they know what's going on, they can come up with a treatment plan to get things sorted.

p.s. This is a photography forum, and you posted this in "Talk Photography", therefore the rules state that it's now compulsory for you to provide photos of yourself trying to stand on a space hopper ;) :)

Laurence - thanks.

Sarah - lol - oh lots of people would pay good money to see that, & hold it against me for years to come. Hope it is part of - would be brilliant & so funny.

Good news.

Now surely a mod should change your title from getting comfy to 'doesn't need her head examined'.
