Worlds best Togs?...so Sony say!

Pretty hard to disagree- every one of those images is stunning. Cheers for the link.

The problem with the whole discourse of photography - like all arts - is that it's entirely subjective - "good", "bad", "poor execution" and "greatness" are entirely redundant terms as anything other than the opinion of the author as an illustration of whether or not something is actually to their taste or not. They are generally just adverts for whoever it is sponsoring the competion or list.

This compilation is a fine example - I mean - I don't even get a mention, let alone a position.

While there's a hint of humour in there, I pretty much agree entirely.

I never thought "worlds best" was meant to be an absolute. I mean, I don't think they intended the winners to be thought of as that. These are just very good photographs.

Prizes like this get photography into the mainstream media and shows that it's not just wedding snaps or people standing in front of a famous monument. Hopefully it will inspire more people to try something a bit different with their camera.

some stunning images.

I liked about a half the images myself, didn't think the other half was anything special although that's the point with art, it's purely subjective!

They are good shots, although most not to my taste. I personally think there are better photos posted on here every day. But that is just my opinion.

Exactly what I thought.

#4 stood out to me, as did #8 however I'm not sure if its been shot like that or just Photoshopped?

Some average photos, couple really good ones but nothing special.

What a mixed bag. From the outright brilliant via mediocre to mundane.
Pete.

Yeah some are great others are err well not so great!! As for this one

Yeah that was what i thought! It looks like a kid took it dare i say! The diver shot was awesome though, would of bee cool to see it in colour!

A couple of good ones, but not the most inspiring, nor interesting set I've seen! :D

Ah, so it's the World Photography Awards sponsored by Sony. Not the Sony World Photography Awards which implies the images were shot with Sony cameras.

Some stunning shots in there. I particularly like the surfer, the stork and the snowboarder.

Well it must be me because with the exception of 15 they are probably the most contrived pretentious over manipulated load of garbage I have seen in a while.

But thats what makes photography such a great hobby they would probably say the same about my Flickr Photostream, its all a matter of opinion be it the images or what we use to take those images with

The one by Dustin Humphrey (number 8) is wicked  I can only imagine how much time and effort went into that shot!

Number 14: impoverished maybe, pleased to see you definitely

I think they are all absolutely fantastic and tell great stories. Hugely inspiring. As for people who claim there are better shots on here - I highly doubt it.
