World situation

You are absolutely 100% correct ............ "this shows the world situation Quite poignantly"

A few neighbours and friends have remarked e.g "What a crazy time this is" and "this feels so surreal"

Today I was setting out at noon to take my dog for a walk. When I opened the front door it felt like 0700 on a Sunday morning (no people, no traffic, no human sounds).

I was an S&G fan (way back in those days). I always loved Sound of Silence, but never remotely imagined that I would experience a time when it would so aptly describe the situation we are now in.

Thanks for your post.(y)

Yes I bet they never thought that a song by them would would be so surreal
Stay safe

I don't normally like 'covers' of classic songs but I heard that one in 2015 and thought it superb, just listen to the words and their delivery, stunning. In the naked light I saw 10,000 people - I hope not, take that whichever way you like.

The song and the words are about depression rather than empty streets. It’s. A great song but it’s been ‘made to fit’ this scenario ‘imo’.

I think you're right. I've yet to hear a version I like as much as the original. Overlaying that on the images would have worked better in my opinion.

Interestingly I googled how many people die of depression a year (suicide 800k) makes corona seem trivial in comparison although sadly I suspect corona will overtake and then some.

I heard last week an old workmate had died, later that night I got another message telling me he died from Convid 19, as had his wife the day before. Before it was just numbers, then someone I knew, that made it all real. Stay safe everyone, it isn’t always somebody else.

I understand the connection, but I never liked Simon and Garfunkel. My favourite in those days was Leonard Cohen, but I rarely listen to music now.

Interesting to see what the Spanish have just announced with regards to being released from their quarantine from Saturday.

They are doing it as a timetable that seems to be designed to reduce the amount of exposure the old people have to others.
