Catching up on my tunes. Anyone else feeling it? JPEG_20201209_161352_5653913791770360697.jpg

I miss being around my colleagues if I'm honest, the buzz from the energy that creates. I don't miss the commute though :)

Like you, I do get to enjoy more tunes at home (the Sax is my son's and he just dumped it in here this morning for some reason)

Mind you, the wife snagged the downstairs room and she gets the good stuff :sneaky:

Well to be absolutely fair i am doing 100% b****r all.
I am in a role where all my work is currently on "certain" work sites that are currently off limits.
so i am effectively "on call" i expect to be that way until currently mid Jan but that may get pushed back to early Feb.
so yeah i am doing b****r all.

Well so long as you are available and they are still paying you then all is good.

My neighbour works at Manchester Airport and is mostly furloughed. I would be happy to be furloughed to be honest, my wife earns a good salary and whilst we aren't well off we could survive on 80% of my salary and I could take more photo's :D

I have that same TEAC amp, in fact I have a whole TEAC separates system, but it's still in boxes from the move 18 months ago...

Could be worse.

HyperX headphones for Zoom, Sonys for music. I prefer them to speakers and can run my music as loud as I like :)

But mostly.....a Herman Miller that I bought second hand about 10 years ago. If you're sitting in it all day, buy the best you can.

My hifi is in another room but I have a nice set of Bose speakers attached to one of the iMac's in the study, where I have plenty of computing power for different tasks to be done concurrently if I'm running remote testing of systems. Not hi-fi, but music to my ears nonetheless. Piano is behind me, for those creative moments.

Yes, an 11 year old MB, 10 year old iMac and 3 year old iMac, but all are perfectly adequate for my tasks as most of the grunt work is on remotely hosted servers (AWS & Azure)
Yes, I'm loving it too, it suits me well, just making the odd visit to site where really necessary.

I am just glad I can't work from home, it would drive me nuts.
I much prefer being at work.

This is as close to doing a desk job as I want, 4 computers linked for controlling and monitoring and storing data from an engine running on a dyno.
I much prefer doing the mechanical stuff. There is an old CD player and speakers in the cell if a lengthy mechanical job needs doing, can't really listen to music when testing as I need to hear the engine should it start making odd noises.

(y)

I actually just sold off two cassette decks and a multi CD player from the system. I still have two tuners and a CD player; I'll get rid of the tuners on eBay at some point.

The amp is an absolute cracker though mine will change the input on its own when the knob is attached hence why it isn't :)

i;ve spent today looking at Yamaha HS8s and wondering if they can be a business expense :-)

Is that a Yew desk? I have a very similar looking one, although the green leather is in three separate parts with mine.

Well, it's a repro one I had made which has been stained and polished to look like yew.

Seems reasonable
People need to be careful working from home, especially if on a company provided PC or laptop.
Our employees are on pay as soon as they log on.
One bloke was foolish enough to be running his own car sales business whilst he should have been working.
He got sacked.

I hate it. Ive been working from home since March. My job normally involves me visiting apprentices on various places around the North of England. Chatting to people, giving support and guidance, and seeing some interesting manufacturing processes. Im an Engineer by trade so love to see stuff work!. Now im confined to a dining room table, with a laptop, on my own, day after day after day, going through the same monotonous progress review form with each apprentice. Im tied to 45 minutes per call. I then have to do all of the admin and spreadsheets, and chase and follow up reports that never get returned. My mental health has really suffered and im climbing the walls!!!
Add to that, the wife bought a puppy as she was working from home also. Now she has gone back to work and im looking after a s***ting barking house destroyer that prevents me from doing my job. Im falling further and further behind and im in a pit i cant get out of. Im an admin clerk!! Its just not me. I cant wait for things to get back to normal and i can get out of this prison.

Certainly very nice and looks genuine.

A mate of mine took early retirement/voluntary redundancy about a year ago, since March, his wife, son and daughter are all working from home, all having to share the one room and my mate has become the glorified tea boy keeping them going.

it is odd and it sounds like you are not loving it, punt the dog into the garden in the rain when it barks it will soon get the idea

Sounds to me like the dog needs a new home.

Puppy's can be a full time job just like having a toddler in the house. They get into everything and seem to be able to warp time and move from place to place in the blink of an eye.

Training is key to turning a disruptive puppy into a well behaved pet. They will respond but it takes patience. It won't be easy but it will be worth it.

With toddlers, yeah that's a different story :sneaky:

It won't be easy but it will be worth it.

It's only worth it if you love and want the puppy/dog. If you didn't choose the animal and it's living in your home under sufferance then it's going to be much more difficult to find the will to train.
