I know it's bad but I always end up doing it. I mean writing reports, editing, all the admin stuff. Then it is the suffering in the morning. Anyone else in the same boat?
Very much depends hat you mean by "night".
I write up reports at home in the evening because it's easier done away from the office.
But if it ain't done by nine it don't get done until tomorrow.
I periodically stay up until 1-2 in the morning when I have 'absolute' deadlines, but I'll generally only get started at 10-11pm. I finish with the kids and chill out for a couple of hours first.
I tend to do 30 mins to an hour from home most evenings, though aim to finish before 11 - I expect that to continue until October. I typically never start before 9pm though.
Sounds like you should set yourself limits on working. You won't be doing your best work at night if you work during the day.
Set aside certain times which are specifically for paper work/administration and keep to it.
I used to do the same as you many years ago in a previous job. It's not good for you, your family or your job.
