Seen a few posts about workflow.
What I need to do is to renumber or name my pictures in batch?
How can I do this?
Cheers

In XP...

1. Highlight all the files in s subfolder in Windows Explorer with the mouse
2. Right click on one of the files and select 'Rename' at the bottom of the popup menu
3. Type in the 'Base' filename you want, complete with the file extension
4. Hit the return key

All the files will now be renamed with that name, with the new filename followed by a number in brackets.

If you screw it up, you can always Undo by pressing Ctrl-Z

Hope that helps...

Using CS2 but the Catdaddy way sounds rather good and easy....
Many thanks

Just tried it.. works a treat :)
How much easier is life going to be now!!!

I used to do that in Windows, but Im a stickler for my image names...

I personally like my photo names to be 000000_xxxx.CR2 or whatever
with 000000 being the 6 figure date (yymmdd), and xxxx being the original camera assigned image number.

I therefore use a free program called CKRename.

Basically I fire it up, select the shots from the day, which are all in one folder, and have it set to replace IMG_ with 061227_ (for example if it were todays shooting)...click go, and hey presto...all done.

I'd disagree with some of that ;)

1 yes
2 right click the top file or the numbers will start in some strange place
3 yes
4 yes

If you screw it up, you can always Undo the last 10 file names (but not all the rest if there were more) by pressing Ctrl-Z

At least thats how it works on my machine here :)
