Just got a DP3M

Is the following the normal workflow

Batch save as 16 bit Tiff files using SIGMA Photo Pro

then import them into LR

(does anyone use SIGMA Photo Pro for anything other than converting the files from .x3f ……. to whatever can be used by another PP app?

If TIFF is the only option to export them, then yes, a 16bit TIFF would be the best option. Does it support DNG? Converting them to DNG would be preferable if there's any software that can do that.

Thanks David
I think that with the Sigma software the only options are jpeg, and 8 or 16 Tiff ..... takes ages to convert the original files to either and the SPP software is an acquired taste to use especially if you are use to LR or PS.
But I think that it is really worth all the "non photographic" negatives and, for me, it is a very interesting and rewarding experience .... you are almost (initially I hope) "fighting" to camera to become one with it

Doesn't sound like a very rewarding experience :)

the final result is very rewarding, (IQ), what is not are the following

1). Batteries last maybe 50 shots .... some say 100, but not in my experience and I keep the LCD switched off as much as I can ..... the batteries are quite small
2). Very slow to focus and confirm
3). 10 sec+ maybe to write to card for each shot
4). Big native X3F files that take some time to download and more time to convert
5). Sigma software not too good, in fact maybe not good at all, although commentators say it's good for B & W
6). There is a tendency to use ISO100 most of the time ........ and with a tripod as much as possible

But it is all really worth it IMHO and I can see why "people" buy all three models, I can se me using the DP3M a lot .......it's a bargain at £350

I also have an optical 75mm VF ....... which I'm not sure is too useful ......... I can see me getting the DP1M if a good used one comes up, they seem to go for £250

The internet "experts" seems to compare the IQ with that of the D800 ..... I have not seen anything as good as the DP3M files on my screen ..... but I don't have a D800

Call me old fashioned, but tools should help you do a job, not hinder you. :)
