Words fail me....

And yet they did nothing to help the man. In my opinion this is what is wrong with this country today and the main reason why our society is becoming so 'lawless'.

Many people will shy away if they see a crime or injustice because they don't want to get involved. Criminals are so brazen because they have nothing to fear from society and the police are unconcerned/unable to deal with low level crime.

Yes, but do you blame them when you hear so many stories about those that did try to intervene getting worse injuries or even killed for doing so? I am not sure 2 youths battering a man with planks is 'low level crime' Yes, its a tragic reflection on society, and one I hate, but a dead Hero is still dead :shake:

If you're on your own/outnumbered then I see your point, but when there are many people around in a public place all it takes is for one person to speak up and then many more will too. Trouble is, no-one wants to be the first to do so. Often all it takes is for someone to shout "Oi!" to stop a crime continuing.

That's because it is amazingly lenient when you compare it to the victim, what parole chances has he got? Given the choices I'm sure he would have taken the chance of parole in 10 years to the violent outcome of death by vile abuse which he has taken to the grave. Sorry I've no sympathy for this behavior and it's getting all the more common place in this country.

No need to apologise for finding this crime to be abhorrent. I do too. I was simply pointing out the facts about the sentence, not putting forward any kind of defence for these people.

Maybe if Lord Justice Rix was beaten with a plank had his home regularly broken into and vandalised had his face daubbed with paint was urinated on and finally dumped in the river Mersey he might change his opinion on the severity of the crime!!!
