I run two Wordpress sites, one is in my sig below. They are both identical in terms of running the ProPhoto 3 theme, the active plugins used and use static Wordpress pages for the site content. I've switched them over to Pretty Permalinks in order to create more user friendly URLs using the Postname option. This change is working fine on my personal website below, however the other site refuses to load the Blog page, where the posts are.

I've been through the Wordpress tutorials and checked the .htaccess file. On the site that is working this has been updated automatically by Wordpress but on the other site remains unchanged. I've tried deleting the .htaccess file because Wordpress is supposed to create a new one but this also fails. I've also tried using the correctly functioning .htaccess file but again this doesn't work. This may also be a red herring!!

My ISP is looking at it but not getting anywhere. Does anyone here have any suggestions? Thanks...

sucking eggs time - have you checked you have the 'postname' text correct in the settings for permalinks, and the selection between blog and static homepage correctly marked, also in settings? I know these are simple questions, but it is just to eliminate the obvious before looking at the complicated.

edit: oops, seen answer in OP

Yes, always worth checking the obvious. After more Googling it's looking like an ongoing problem people have encountered with Wordpress through each release. It could well be a serverside issue, when Wordpress asks 'are you Apache?' the server doesn't know. I'll suggest this to tech support, but getting an ISP to acknowledge the issue at their end is a challenge.
