I have been using Wordpress for a bit on my server, a non-standard template from an independent designer is in use for my photosite - nothing brilliant but it's served the purpose for a bit.

However I came across Photocrati and it seemed a good option to try, Wordpress installed via cPanel as is their preferred way and then the Photocrati theme installed via the .zip file.

All works well until I attempt to insert an image into a post ... it appears to upload but always returns the error:-

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-admin/media-upload.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have checked the server and the domain has the /wp-admin/media-upload.php installed and all the 'Uploads' directories are set to '777' so there shouldn't be any issues with writing.

I've tried using IE9 and Safari but no difference ... Im now stumped and would appreciate any informed suggestions ... TIA

Have you tried reuploading media-upload.php into /wp-admin/ from a fresh WP download?

No I haven't, as per the Photocrati instructions I have used the cPanel auto-install so I don't have a copy of that file (though could get one). I am sure that the file is okay though ... IE9 also gives a report that it can't read the information coming back from the website when this error occurs ... I'm thinking it's a permissions issue but can't track it down.

have you tried uploading the theme via FTP into your wp-content/themes directory and then extract from there. If done correctly it should then appear in your themes control panel in wordpress

It's an issue with mod-security that is causing the problem, I've had the server co look into it for me and they've resolved it but not sure how yet. Apparantly there are a number of similar 'upload' issues around mod-security.
