Edit My Images
Yes
Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading/re-building my rather dated website.
I am trying the Twentyeleven theme from wordpress.
But am struggling with inserting multiple images into a post.

It just seem so very time consuming that it only allows you to select one at a time, Is there a way to select multiple images to insert into a post?

Any gratefully accepted.

Spence

Photocrati theme enables you to do this, but without that try searching 'Faster Image Insert'.

Sorry gramps, but i already have the Twentyeleven child theme installed, & do not really want to change themes if I can help it.

I have already tried the "faster image insert" plugin, but could not get it to work correctly...:(

Then the simple answer appears to be 'No'.

Wordpress is built for blogging, a few of the better paid for built for photographer Wordpress based tools allow this (Photocrati, ProPhoto), which is really a niche requirement.

I think your options are:
  • Put up with doing it manually
  • Persevere with 'faster image insert'
  • Learn how to hack the CSS to build your own shortcuts
  • Admit defeat and buy a pro level Wordpress theme (theme doesn't really cover what either Photocrati or ProPhoto are capable of)
See how easy it could be

You can insert multiple images, simply click the add media button on a page or post. A box opens and says Add media files from your computer. In the center of the box it says drop files here. You can simply drag and drop pictures and they simply upload, or you can click each individual one and upload. You can click another file to upload while one is already uploading, no need to wait.

The OP is asking about inserting, not uploading.;)

Is that not the same thing ? To insert an image, it has to be uploaded first ! As when I insert images into a post on my Wordpress , I have to upload them first.

The easy way is to upload/insert all of them.

Or you need to insert each image by clicking the media secrtion and insert into post and do this for each image.

You will save yourself a mass of time looking at something like Photocrati or ProPhoto.

Their templates and gallery options are brilliant.

That seems about right, and that's the way I do it also.

Or if you want to show images as a gallery, the add image/media in the add post or page you can do so. There is an option to choose to display images as a gallery, simply click the gallery option at the posting stage.

But you can easily upload thousands of images as a batch. The you'd insert them into separate posts in smaller batches. So there's a clear distinction between uploading and inserting.
Like downloading and processing, you need to download before you process, but the act of downloading doesnt infer processing, its just an enabler.
You can't insert images you haven't uploaded, but you can upload images and never insert them. And as its a two step process it's important to keep the distinction to avoid confusion.
Particularly as Wordpress allows batch uploading but not batch insertion! That gets complicated, read the other thread.

See what I mean? You're batch uploading and individually inserting.

as default no you can't do it as Phil has said, you have to insert hem 1 by 1 unless you can find a plugin that works

What are you trying to do? Create a gallery? If so, there are gallery plugins that will auto parse files and put them on the page for you as well as creating a lightbox.

For example this page: http://photo.andysheen.co.uk/products/

Is produced with this source code:

Code:
[nggallery id=2]

(yes, that is really all that is on the source of the page)

BTW: apologies, but it seems the website is a bit slow at the moment.

Many thanks for all the replies everyone.

Just to clarify, I wanted an option to insert multiple images into a post.

Faster image insert did not give me that option I'm afraid.
I will look a little more closely at the photo specific themes.

Just a quick update.

I removed "faster image insert" & re-installed it. And I now have the option to select all the images!

Thanks for everyones help.

Spence

I just installed this plugin, takes a few seconds for the tick boxes to appear but brilliant plugin, love it :)

I have encountered back up problems with some plugins I found, plus by using the gallery format for placing images within posts and page.

When I have backed up my wordpress database images were not re installed when I re imported the database.

But glad you now have a fix :)
