Decided to redo my site on Wordpress but I'm looking for a free gallery plug in that displays a nice masonary style gallery.

Any suggestions?

When you install the Wordpress jetpack plugin, you can enable the masonry style gallery. I like it very much. Set the images to to link to no window and when clicked they'll show up in a nice dark style carrousel fully scaled to the size of the screen.

I also use S3 Offload for my images to Amazon such that I can easily serve full size images for those with nice 4/5K screens.

I think nextgen is popular, might have to pay but anything good usually costs something ;)
 
I thought Nextgen used to be good but latest versions seem to have lost their way a bit. Instead I found NextCellent Gallery to be a great free plugin - basically it's NextGen from back when it was good updated to current standards / compatibility. It works with all the same Nextgen Plugins as the original as well.
 
@dejongj thank you. The jetpack plug in is exactly what I was after, wasn't working at first as it was conflicting with another plugin so after a bit of trouble shooting it's working juts fine. Thank you!
 
No worries @T_J_G :) I'm glad you like it. I've installed it on my 4 sites and works perfectly.
 
@dejongj yup, now looks even better with the comments and title disabled, just need to see if I can add share buttons too it, but maybe pushing it too far!
