WordPress blog feed to website.

I will be making some updates to my website over winter and I have had an idea of something that I now need to find out if it's possible, and if so, how.

My website and my blog are separate. I have my own hosting sorted for my site, but my blog is hosted by WordPress.

What I would like to do is link the blog to the site. Ideally I would like to show the first portion of the most recent blog post, say the first paragraph, on my homepage which links onto the actual blog.

When I post a new blog post, that should then update on my website.

The idea being a way to have some constantly altering content on my site.

Can this be done?
Or more to the point, can this be done by a buffoon?

You can link to it, but showing your recent blog posts on your site would be far from easy.

Best off just building a Wordpress site with it's own integrated blog, then importing all of the blog content onto it. Wordpress has a tool for this.

You could load your own Wordpress installation into www.websitename/blog and export everything from Wordpress.com

So I can host the blog myself and have it as just another page of my website?
What about all my existing blogs, I assume they can be moved over too, but what about existing links, can they be made to forward on to the new location?

Yep. Build your site on Wordpress.

Your blog will let you export the content into an .xml file, which you can then import into your site. Magic will ensue and from there your blog content will be transferred over.

When you say build my site on WordPress, you are not suggesting I ditch my current site and use WordPress instead do you?
I can just install WordPress to my existing Web hosting just for the blog aspect of my site?

Edit. A quick Google suggests that installing WordPress to a subdomain is not a problem so that's good.

My only remaining hurdle/question is links to my existing blogs.


I will use my most popular post as an example. This is the current link as it stands now.

If I now move all my content to my newly hosted WordPress page, what happens to all the people that try to follow the old link. Will they be directed to the new copy on my site?
