I'm a total idiot when it comes to web development, I use a wordpress site with the real photography theme and the gallery section looks pretty awful with regards to layout. So much so that I never use it, In fact since a scattering of images were just thrown in as fillers to check the operation of it, I've never revisited it in about a year :(

I tend to only add images to the front page and the blog page........but I'm rubbish with the whole blogging thing too so months pass by without any content changes.

Are there any options to alter the gallery layout and make it look dynamic?

I have a feeling the hosting is due soon and I should really get some use from the site.

Brian, WP has evolved into not just a blog...they can appear to be a 'website'...it all depends what you want to do with it.

It kind of looks like a website now, with pages for blog, contact, galleries and a home page, but the gallery is lacking.

entirely my fault, I have little knowledge of web stuff and finding time and then interest is difficult.

I'll have a look through some of the sites linked

Then I'd ask the same question I ask
People when they're deciding on a website; what's it for? Truly understanding the purpose of the site will help you manage it properly.

The reason for the website is pretty much the same as every other photographer has for justifying a website. It's a shopfront on the world wide web.

The vast majority of bookings come through Facebook at the moment, but i expect facebook to die soon with all their changes, so it'd be nice to be ready :D

Are you seeking to get new business from it or simply enhance the business you get from elsewhere. That's two completely different website strategies that I wish I had recognised earlier.A well thought through website can be very rewarding, anything else is a waste of time in my humble opinion.

Giving people an idea of what we do, and a method of contact rather than having online sales etc

You'd be surprised how many photographers have a website as a pure vanity project;)

If the website is expected to bring business, and you don't want sales galleries, I'd say go for a prophoto site, brilliant for SEO, customer support, mobile version, customisability.

It's not cheap but theres no better alternative. I have a discount code too;)
