Hi all, I am off to woolacombe soon with the family, anyone got any recommendations?

I intend to try some seascapes at woolacombe beach and rockham beach and have a visit to exmoor zoo planned.

The bike is coming so I intend on getting out early to make the most of my time so any locations nearby would be great.

We stayed in Ilfracombe last summer, which has a lovely little harbour. There are hills all around it so you can get some lovely shots looking down onto it, especially around dusk when the lights are lit. We also went to Coombe Martin wildlife and dinosaur park and Clovelly (again, a nice little harbour and a waterfall. Plus lots of quirky little shots to be had down and off the cobbled main street).

Kelly, many thanks for this, I will check out all these places

Used to go down there for a month every year. Absolutly gorgeous scenery, i do miss it and i've been meaning on going back.
Woolacombe is a lovely little town/village, nice promenade and the beach is one of the best in the UK.
Combe Martin and Exmoor Wildlife parks not a million miles away. But as said above, Clovelly is the jewel in the crown.

Combesgate Bay is good for photos at the end of woolacombe beach. Clovelly, Westward Ho!, Appledore, Instow, Lee Bay, Lynton & Lynmouth etc are all great places to visit/shoot. Exmoor is also not far away at all.

I live in North Devon so there are photos of quite a few of the places on my blog, which might help to give you an idea of what to expect.

Exmoor Zoo is great for photography but be ready to get cage bars out of focus - lots of other opportunities there though.

Woolacombe you just have to be down by the rocks for the sunset - we always have fantastic sunsets down here in North Devon and no two are the same

If you like river valley shots, go to Lynmouth and walk along the river walk - lots of superb photos to be obtained here.

Clovelly this time of year is manic with visitors unfortunately - pays to get there as early as possible
