Hi

Woohoo I got My Sigma 10-20mm, wide angle lens +filter, Battery Grip and 2 batteries for my 7D has arrived today, Im well impressed with Digitalrev as they only posted it yesterday, well chuffed, still waiting for a parcel from WEX with a 16GB Lexar x600 CF, and a Cokin wide angle attachment,

I just checked the tracking of it and it says Parcelforce have tried to deliver it, but Ive been in all day and they haven't tried, as theres no card through the letterbox :bang:

Nice one Dave- you'll love the 10-20mm cracking lens in the right hands- I have the WA Cokin adaptor too for the ND grads

Les

Ps I'll give you some tuition if you need it mate :lol::lol:

Good for you, you'll love it all. I hate couriers with a vengence when they claim to ahve tried to deliver. usually it means you're the furthest drop on their route and if they fib then can leave it for another day. Parcel force are usually pretty good however.

I received my Sigma 10-20mm from DR on Tuesday, the wide field of view is a strange sensation

Thanks Les, Mike and Terry, I havent tried the lens out yet as I was waiting for parcelforce person to call with the card as he hadnt been he was fibbing, I had to go to my local post office to collect it

Congrats on your new lens Terry

Ive been having a look through the lens wow it is wide, fitted my filter on, not tested the wide angle filter holder yet, Im loving it already :love:

lexar card is fab buffering is well quick on full size raws,

Camera feels well heavy now with the grip and batteries in,

its been all over the world with me

Thanks Stu, Im sure mine will as well, shame I didnt get it a few weeks ago before we went to India, we're going to Thassos in 4 weeks for a week, so it will be with me, and I just been informed were gong to Krakow Poland in September for 4 days, so it will be going there as well

Hope you get a good deal with your lens and enjoy your upgrade

which Sigma did you get mate ?

I got the f3.5 HSM a couple of months ago and love it

Hi MG

The f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, as I wanted the other things, so I traded it off, from the 3.5

Enjoy your new lens any shots you can link me to please

to be honest Dave I wasnt sure which one to get, my reasoning behind this was the fact that it would mostly be used with a tripod so wouldnt need to shoot wide open in low light situations

I havent really uploaded many I've took with it apart from my "man with dog" sculpture ones you've already seen

The beauty of the wide angle for me is to alter the perspective of subjects and make them look a bit more interesting

Gripped 7D plus Sigma 10-20 just feels good to hold doesn't it, I remember when I first stuck it on mine!

Enjoy it! And post up some shots with it soon!

Thanks Adam, Ive had the 7D a year now and it feels miles different with the grip on it. going to do a cake and sweet shoot tomorrow so I will have a look for a good landscape on my way to Southport to test my new lens on,

Ahhh the Sigma 10-20mm, fantastic lens! I managed to get mine for £210 here on TP, front focuses a tiny bit (but i knew about that) but I never shoot below F8 and tend to manual focus all the time anyway. Amazing lens for landscapes, although I want to go FX possibly at the end of year or early next year so I may have to get rid of it :(

looking forward tomseeing some stunning landscape shots, now Dave

I have the same lens- its hardly off my camera when Im out and about

Les

Thanks Paul, hope you manage to get your new lens soonish

Ta Les, Im sure mine wont

MG, I went to a different location for some bluebells was very disappointed that they arent even showing proper yet, So didnt even take 1 shot,

I'm doing an Entremets (French Cakes/Desserts) Food Shoot tomorrow, and yummy, I get to eat a few of them :D so I dont think I'll get any shots of those with it

However its a 25 mile journey through beautiful countryside to get there so chances are Ill be stopping off on the way there and back

I've just gone FF. 50D ->5D2. In the process I got a 17-40L to replace my 10-40. So now, sadly, I'm selling the Sigma. not something I'd factored in when I started the process

So far I don't think the Canon is any better than the Sigma. I suspect any improvement I perceive may be down to the body.

yeah , we're still a bit early for the bluebells methinks

Soon be the right time

Nice one David congrats on the new gear

Amazing lens, I've got mine strapped to my non-gripped 500d and it weighs a ton! You must have huge arm muscles to have on a gripped 7d! enjoy!

Ah, I may be keeping the 50D as well now so no real need to sell the Sigma!

Nice one

Ta Matt, going to give it its first outing tomorrow shooting rapeseed fields

Congratulations.

I'm starting to use mine for video with my 7D now too.

Enjoy :)

Ive had the 7D for over a year Ive only made one vid so far, that was of a white throat singing, Id like to do more

I must admit I really bought the 7D for stills, but recently I was asked to help

out with a band video shoot (yet to be shot), so and I purchaed the Flycam

nano+armbrace stabilser thing. It's a bit tricky at first to get the camera

balanced but it's starting to glide round the round place (nearly like a

steadicam)

So setting my Sigma to around 14mm (for video, not stills) gives a nice fov with little distortion in the frame when moving around.

As always it's about practice and refinement :)

Ps I need to Google white throat singing :D

Ah, I thought it was a special technique that country folk did.
