Hi guys, even though i've posted a little on here, i've realised that i never introduced myself

Sooooo....! I'm Ian from darkest Wales (cue sheep jokes lol), and have just started an on-location dog photography busines called *shameless plug mode on* Poochography *shameless plug mode off* as well as shooting stock exclusivly for istockphoto.

Am currently shooting with an ancient Canon 20D, which is wrecked from an encounter with a Red Deer stag, lenses rule over bodies though right? Lens wise I have a Canon 17-40L, Canon 50mm f1.4, and a Tamron 90mm macro, although, as we speak, i am in the throws of getting the Canon 24-70 2.8L, which im dead excited about! ( :)

Anyways...hi from me and woof woof from my two bull terriers! :)

Hi! I'll be watching your posts with interest as I also have a dream of being a pet photographer, who also would like to stay away from studio shoots. Previously was a veterinary nurse and have always had a passion and understanding for animals.
It's also something that would work round the kids... But still loads of learning and info to get lol!

She passed away this April at 17 years old its very sad. As i am doing a course in phtography now she would have been my top model and loved it!!

Ah thanks very much. Sorry about Molly :( She lived to a ripe old age though, which is great :) I have a staffy and an English bull terrier, the staffy though is a very unenthusiastic model and gets sad when I get the camera out! lol

Hi Ian,

Are your dogs Staffs?

What happened with the Stag - sounds like an interesting story.

Hey :) Yeah, we have one staffy and one english bull terrier, it was from shooting these that i kinda fell into dog photography :)

The stag...well...i was in a deer park, stalking a stag out to get a photo, proper lovely Autumn light and all, i had my tripod slung over my shoulder, and my camera in hand. I approached downwind, and was just getting into position in a bush, when the stag saw me, and started to run full speed towards me! So i turned and fled, but as i turned, my tripod swung off my shoulder and slammed into my 20D, putting a massive crack in the LCD screen and scratching it somewhat! The stag then ran the opposite direction and i never got the shot!

Which is why i thought dog photography might be a better direction for me rather than wildlife! :)

She's called Roxy, we rescued her 10 years ago now from the local shelter... We're now hooked on Bullies for life, they're fantastic!

Hehe, thats awesome! I have to admit, i wasnt a fan of the bullies at first, but my girlfriend wanted one, so we got one, and now, well, i LOVE them! They are so full of character, although Lola, she's stubborn and totally lazy, but oh so funny! Off to the West of England Bull Terrier club show on Sunday, but this time, armed with a staffy, a bullie and my camera gear! Its going to be a fun day! :)
