Any ideas as to where I could get my hands on some apple crates????? Looking them for a new project to help we wile the winter away....

Preferably local to Kent

If looking to buy them, you can get 8 for £40 (free P&P) via a certain very popular online auction site...
Plenty for sale online :)

I did check said site but most of them where collection only.....will have another look

I was going to offer to call at a couple if places I pass en route to work, but the crates I see there are MUCH bigger than those in the ad.

All begs the question... What is it that it is that you are going to do with them ? o_O (I'm assuming you aren't growing apples!)

I am going to make some rustic furniture with them....... just for fun and to keep me from annoying Mrs Archangel over the winter months.....:)

Mrs Chap has suggested that I stay in a crate over the winter for the same reasons

Are you all sorted? There's a shop in Whitstable that sells them. But I suspect they want Whitstable prices :(

Most orchards are full of them right now :D

I have about 30 wooden pallets laying about. I thought about doing something similar because I've seen lots of good ideas but haven't pulled my finger out yet.

With 30 pallets you must have been planning something huge - a garden fortress perhaps?!

Pallets make excellent compost heaps. 8 of them in a square held together with zip ties holds loads of stuff. It all rots down, including the pallets. Then the compost goes on the garden and you get some more pallets. Total recycling!

As much fun as that sounds they have just gathered up over the years and have come in handy so I've never gotten rid of them. There's already a fortress in the stables that's made out of hay bales. My kids have made all sorts of tunnels out of them and it's actually pretty fun trying to catch them lol.
