To day few people have secretaries and most managers input their own letters etc.
I wish you’d tell my GPs that. When they write a letter they email/text their secretaries asking them to write one, Inpresume it’s sent Mack for them to sign, and then ant electronic version is sent as an MS Word doc by email, others by post :(.

This is not a one-man band they have 11 GPs (not all full-time) , do GP training, and a vast staff (all female!) and extra work with some of the (many) local prisons :(.

On their website they say it’s so much extra work writing letter to hospitals that they provide templates so patients can write fake letters expediting treatment etc!

Stereotyping definitely has an effect. and not always a desirable one.

It is not the genetic make up or biology of men and women that drives their interests
but it is the "expectation" of their Peers. that drives men an women to follow particular paths.

When I was young, British fighting soldiers were all men. this followed the male stereotype.
Today Many military personnel of all types and at all ranks are women. They have shown themselves to be able to excell in all these roles.

In the 18th century all secretaries were men.
By the twentieth century they were all women, and it was considered women's work. To day few people have secretaries and most managers input their own letters etc.
The post of Secretary has been replaced by the personal assistant, of either sex.
When I retired in 2000 my secretaries job had morphed into one of departmental administrator. and in most regards my deputy.

The Greatest and longest serving portrait Photographer that the Guardian ever employed was Jane Bown. Undoubtedly a leading artist of here age.

Genetic make up and biology have a huge effect on the interests and behaviours of male and females!

As for women in the military, many do not excel, and are there because they are women, and tick certain boxes.

This is not a generalisation, but it is a fact.

I could write 20,000 words of scientific, biological fact on the subject here, but I doubt anyone would read it, or cross check it, so I won't, but I could not let that blatantly false statement above go unchallenged.

So you are suggesting that our women Officers and other ranks are not up to the standard of men doing the same tasks in our services.
I suppose that goes for our female doctor emergency services scientists and Engineers and business leaders too.?

I suggest you talk to some of their fellows about that.
You attitude is akin to Antediluvian beliefs.

I am sure that you could write reams of papers supporting your views, backed up by the work of equally out of date scientists and academics.
However you would still be wrong

the medical and legal professions have to write thousands of letters and they do employ support staff to cover these roles.
However many doctors do dictate or write some of these letters them selves. And Solicitors employ paralegals to carry out some of these task and do the necessary legal research.

The key point here being “doing the same tasks”. Tasks which over time, are quite likely to have been honed using men.

Asking on a male dominated forum why there aren't many women about might not be a great approach.

I’ve just been looking at my Medical Record online to check on a leter I received the other day from a consultant (by post) and I see it’s copied to two other consultants in different parts of the same hospital but in print form, not electronic! :(.

That’s not really what I’m getting at — the point is the double working and extra time it takes going back and forth and then printed and posted rather than the GP (who can all type, but there is good speech to text software) knocking off a quick email to the appropriate hospital consultant :(.

This is getting ridiculous and is a fine example of why there are so few women on male dominated fora.

I have locked this thread, @Eltheza I hope the rubbish in here hasn't put you off Talk Photography completely and if you are interested in continuing this then please contact the mods and someone will unlock it
