Matt, your Angle shot is GREAT. A clever idea and perfectly executed. spot on mate
Thanks Brian! Glad you like - have to say it's probably one of the strongest theme wise I've had in a few weeks!
Greed: I like the angle but find my eye drawn straight to the colours on the right.

Angle: Nice b&w. Lovely sharp image.
Thank you! Yeah, I think week 15 might be a do-over week for me, not quite happy with it.

Nice one Matt - clean, clear, simple, well composed. spot on.
very simple but works really well nice idea

Thanks guys! :)

Tacky, whatcha mean tacky? That's a lava lamp, that's not tacky! Etc. All that said, that's a great shot Matt, well times and lovely colours.

Value: likewise only loosely on theme, but intersting and as said above the movement blur definitely adds interest.

Greed: interesting angle on the shot, but to me it fell apart when I realised the coffee drip was going sideways! Nice colours though.

Angle: definitely like this one. Cool look, and the zigzag spoon adds real interest. Nice angles in the glass too.

Thanks Chris - all valid points, appreciate the feedback!

Love that take on "angle", very well executed all round.
Hi
I like the quirky angle and the colours in your greed shot.
Interesting shot for angle. Like the simplicity.

Thanks guys! :)

Quick catch up, I'm afraid :D

Greedy, quite like it, nice colours and quirky angle. BG is a tad distracting.

Angle, I had the same idea and you've done well.

Cheers.

Great minds eh?! ;)
Yeah as above, week 15 is probably a do over - not that happy with it to be honest!

Hi Matt
keep going mister....being late doesn't matter...especially when you produce shots like Angle....very effective, great focus , nicely just off centre

Thanks Lynne! Yeah I might be running behind, but I've no intention of packing it in! Just very busy these days. Glad you like this weeks shot! :)

Great idea for angles, the processing shows of the subject perfectly.

Thanks! :) I do like my B&W shots!

I love your take on angle(s) Matt
That is right up my street as far as subject matter is concerned.
A simple yet very effective take on the theme, good work. Perfect!

Bit of an update at long last:
Here's week 17 - Rustic:

17/52 - Rustic by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

These cottages are in the grounds of Haigh (near Wigan) - I actually went to take some photos of the Windmill up there, but decided to use this shot as I'd photographed the mill before.

Here's week 18 - Kind

18/52 - Kind by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

This little fella is Dave! He's about 8 weeks old and as you can see is pretty cute. He's also absolutely bonkers and is very entertaining. I took this with 'kind' in mind as he was munching his way through some kitty treats when I took this shot (kindness), but also for the fact that even at 8 weeks, he is a bit of a character - one of a 'kind'. :)

Right, now that's those uploaded - time to catch up on everyone else's uploads over the past 2 weeks!

I'm probably going to have another go at Greed for this weeks theme, wasn't happy with that one from the off! :)

loving these two matt - simplicity and symmetry of the rustic cottages - well framed and the lovely stripes on the lawns lead you up to the front doors brilliantly....

and as for Dave - great name for a start!! do believe cats are better with human names  got both his ears in shot, great use of DOF to mute the BG, crop or clone the penguin for me, and maybe a portrait orientation?? angle works, as his eyes are level - and thats where the focus is

nicely composed cottages and as for Dave its a great portrait of him but as Graham says portrait orientation i think would work really well, both good images

'ello, Rustic, what a cracking house. Well composed with good detail. Wonder what it would have looked like a few hours later with nice sunset light.

Kind, cracker, great detail and colours. BG is a bit.........what the hell, who doesn't love kittens :D

Cheers.

Hi Matt

looks like the crowbar has been out again but that kitty is just sooo purrrfect I don't care....what a beautiful face & huge eye's......totally love it :love:

Rustic...another cracking image...almost perfect symtery & good detail in the houses with white whites .....maybe lift the shadows a little to bring some more detail out in the darker brickwork ??

Cottages: great
Kitten: great

You have got a very good pair of shots there Matt.

Rustic, bang on theme. Love the Kitten but a little distracted by the background.... Did I say I loved the kitten :D

Rustic is very nice, it almost looks like you have mirrored the image, I guess that's called keeping up with the Jones'

Rustic: excellent shot. Very symmetrical shots are often a bit unsatisfactory, ut this one seems to work; maybe the shadows and the different trees lend it just enough asymmetry!

Kind: again, a great shot, with Dave's face really well in focus, good eye conteact and a lot of interest. Finding the substantial rotation a bit distracting, though.

Week 21 - Movement

21/52 - Movement by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

I'm actually away for a few weeks now, but hoping to have some catchup shots while I'm away.
I'll also be sure to catch up with everyone else submissions too - just didn't want to fall even further behind before I go away!

So yeah - I'm still here :)

A bit of an illusion in vertical (or my eyes), the bubble is level but the level seems to curve at the bottom.
Nice clean image though :)

Really like pattern, you've captured it very well, the sky compliments whatever the other thing is very well.

pattern and movement both really good can't really fault either of them

Hi Matt :)

Vertical - Nice crisp clean image, like it :)

Pattern - Oooo I love that, a great sweep of shapes and a good sky to top it off

Movement - Again very nice, like the bright colours again, good movement caught in the lights to the outside yet stillness in the cabin - Nice One

Good Catch up !!!!

Hi ya

a set of 3 great images but the winner by a country mile....Pattern.....super super super....great angle , beautifully exposed & great contrast against the blue sky....get it framed mister :clap:

Vertical.....simple , minimal very effective......& perfectly level  Slight niggle is the darker area lhs , almost like the corner of a wall

Movement......beautifully focused on the car interior , well exposed & a few light trails to show movement..:)

well done Matt - was starting to think we'd lost you there......

Vertical great idea (:D), good execution an I really like the clean simplicity of it, left hand side of the level is spot on vertical, but I'm not completely sure the bubble is in the middle..., see that you're not straight on, and you're seeing the rear side of the bubbles too, but I'm not so sure....

pattern works well, super composition, bet you wish you'd had you "proper" camera with you that day, noise in the sky is a bit of a turn off, but "the best camera is the one you have with you" etc etc!

Great job on movement too, didn;t spot that you'd taken two images and merged them, reckon this is the way to do these type of shots, you need the interior to be sharp - as you are here!

Thanks for the feedback guys, sorry not had a chance to reply until now! I've been dipping in and out and keeping a watch on the theme thread though. Hopefully, I'll have a bit more time to keep up with everyone else's threads now too!

So on to a monster catch up:
Week 22: Below

22/52 - Below by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

23/52 - Size by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

I tried to get clever with this one, but now I've done it I'm not sure it's that obvious! So here is a set up photo:

Week 23 (set up shot) by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

I tried using perspective to make it look as though these two objects were the same size, when in fact the one in the foreground is very small compared to the much larger background figure. Too much?! Haha.

24/52 - Process by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

This is a compilation of shots showing the process of making a brew. I threw in some selective colouring for a bit more interest and focus on the cup. This shot is actually made up of 4 shots: the cup, the coffee spoon, the water, the milk. Then I layered & masked them up in PS afterwards.
By that time, I was ready for the coffee!

25/52 - Rock by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

One of the reasons I've fallen so far behind with this (excuses excuses!) was I went away to Egypt for a week! We went on a day trip to Petra (4am start - on holiday!!) to cross something else off of the bucket list!
There was only ever going to be one shot for this theme, so here it is - The Treasury at Petra. This 'World Heritage site' is probably most famous for appearing in the film 'Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade'. So unbelievably hot, but totally worth it!
As for the shot itself, well it was taken on my Galaxy S3 as I had decided against bringing my DSLR on holiday! I did do some work on the photo to clone out a few tourists also - the place was very busy!

26/52 - Pair by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

Half way!
Wasn't quite sure what to do with this week's theme. I just happened to be admiring the evening sunset when I clocked these two perched on TV aerial! Thankfully they perched long enough for me to grab my D7000 & 300mm lens before flying off!
Quite pleased with this shot, especially as it was literally one of those 'right place, right time' moments!

27/52 - Shape by whatmattdoes, on Flickr

Well, it wouldn't be a 52 project without at least one moon shot!
Bit of a push maybe for the theme, but it was such a clear sky that the shape of the moon was very clear and 'sphere' like if you know what I mean? Quite a tight crop on this one, and some sharpening in PS to bring out more detail in the surface. There's lots of shapes on the moon surface too!

So that's me caught up a bit anyway! Am hoping to get 'Plenty' done this weekend also, then I'll only be 1 week behind!

Have to say what a great catch up all of them are very good

Below, the wing really makes the pic
size, didnt realise the distance until the explanation very clever
Rock, great colour and subject
pair nice capture right place right time indeed
shape, no push at all great moon shot

I too am in the process of a mega catch up and I know some of the ones I have ready are nowhere near as good as these.

I think your process shot is outstanding, I love the colour and clarity plus it's shot on for theme, I'm a big fan of size too :)

H, Matt, have to say before I give...quick...FB, overall, I'm impressed with these

Below, great depth and detail. Pity you couldn't get the whole wing in.

Size, I wouldn't have known it was forced perspective without the explanation but nice one.

Process, seriously  impressive. Great processing and detail. The splash (:D) of red works for me. Tad more room at the top, maybe.

Rock, on theme but looks a tad orange

Pair, you're really telling me this wasn't 'shopped ;) wow, the detail in the sky is wonderful, as is the composition.

Shape, nice detail and well composed.

Good stuff, mister.

Hi Matt :)

Below - Nice sky, liking the composition too

Size - Good DoF and a good image, but with nothing for comparison of 'size' I struggle to see the connection with the theme, as both of your subjects are the same size

<EDIT> Now I see your set up... the above is a bit harsh, the shot is very good but again without the set up it's impossible to tell :)

Process - Liking that, good PP of the four shots, works real well

Rock - A lovely colour, again good PP and a nice image for a phone !!!!

Pair - Now I really like that, the tips of the rooftop, the corner of a chimney stack, the aerial with the birds on is spot on, a great silhouette against a real nice sky - a cracker

Shape - Well... it sure is :D that works OK for me, not a bad shot of the moon either :)

What a great catch up

Wow! Mega catch up. All great shots too

For me the stand out is process...very good pp and I like the selective colour

I like the shot of Petra too. Knowing how huge it is, you did well to get it all in and I love the colour.

Thanks Allan! I decided that seeing I was behind anyway, I'd put some effort into the shots rather than simply throwing something out there in keeping with the theme. :) Glad you like!

Thanks John! Hope your catch up is well under way!

Hi Matt, the stand out shot for me is the process coffee. What a great compilation.

Thanks! Was a tricky theme that one, glad you like!

Re the Pair photo - PS might have helped ever so slightly! But not much! :D Glad you like them!

Thanks DK! I know what you mean re Size, I knew as soon as I uploaded it that I'd better post a set up shot also. Glad it made the cut in the end though! Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it! :)

Wow! Mega catch up. All great shots too

I like the shot of Petra too. Knowing how huge it is, you did well to get it all in and I love the colour.

Cheers Chris! Petra was amazing, so so hot - but very much worth the trek. I managed to catch this shot in full on sunshine, so it was indeed very orange (although I did play with the curves a little in PS afterwards!). Biggest bit of work was cloning out all the people in front of it - no doubt my DSLR would've captured it better, but could only work with what I could carry - not a chance was I lugging my SLR gear around in that heat! :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I've actually taken shots for the 2 remaining themes too - but not 100% happy just yet, but I can almost say I'm not behind for the first time in months! haha!

Really love the silhouette of the pigeons on the ariel, of all your catch ups that one stands out to me more for some reason. Looking at them all though that is a pretty strong set you have posted well done.

Thanks Gregor - I did get particularly lucky with that one I admit! Glad you like them all too, it's taken me long enough!

Nicely done Matt.
A good set of catch ups there.

Your process shot deserves a lot of praise in my opinion. It really made my jaw drop when I saw it, I even called Kathie through from the other room to see it. She agreed it was a super idea and very well executed. Well done

Thanks Brian! Glad you both approve!

Am still struggling somewhat with the 'Plenty' theme, especially having done the similarly themed Greed / Gluttony shots already!
