Ouch ouch ouch... my bloody wisdom teeth are coming through (Well the top right one anyways)

Its agony!!

I cant concentrate in college at all!

I had to sign out today cos it really ******** hurt!!!:'(

What are your experiences with the blighters!:(

I've been lucky with mine, all 4 have come through straight, true and without pain.

As they came through, I was conscious my gums were tender but at no point was I in pain.

Mind you is did have 2 upper and 2 lower teeth removed as a child and an upper brace which pulled in the upper jaw and pushed out the lower one (yes it was a work of art!) so this may have contributed to them coming through straight and trouble free. or I may just have been a lucky sod

I have taken some paracetamol and it has seemed to make it 10x worse! Whats up with that??

Oh how lucky am I!

You Andrew are one hell of a lucky sod indeed!

c'mere ya big wimp. I have a nice pair of pliers waiting at my place if you dare visit! :naughty:

My experience is that with a young person, a gentle twist with a Warwick James elevator is usually enough to pop 'em out. But you could get some Corsodyl mouthwash and rinse with that for a few days, but don't forget to read the instructions regarding the use.

Mine used to come through for about 1 week every 2 months, for that week there would be some pain but I have a high pain tolerance so didn't feel it that bad.

My problem was that 3 of the 4 teeth had faults when they came through, one of the bottom right crumbled away leaving it looking like this : /|

Hadn't been the dentist in years, so had to go private. Told him what the problem was and he found it funny when I said that I hadn't been to the dentist in years because other than my wisdom teeth I am always told my teeth are in great condition (no fillings, cavities etc). He injected me gums, half of it went down my cheek so had to inject a second time. Pulled top one fine but the broken bottom one required a hammer and chisel to get out! Having a 7ft Australian dentist hammering at your face is odd to say the least :D

Cheers all. The pain has stopped for now....

But im going out tonight so I will take some paracetamol with me.

Havnt got any mouthwash I dont think... Will have a look next time im in the bathroom.

But cheers for your advice all, Other than heppers who can go p**s off :p

Had all mine out at the dentist some time ago......in case y`all needed telling...:D

The worst thing about the top ones, is that they will continue to grow downwards until they hit something (another tooth or the lower gum). If you're in that much pain, a good salt wash will help ward off any infection. I also swore on paramol. It's designed for tooth pain and always used to be the strongest thing you could get non-prescription.

Hopefully it will settle in a few days, but if you've started getting pain, it's likely to come back. If you can hang on for a dental checkup do so. You're still in full time education and under 19 so if you're NHS it will be free. They're likely to take them out as they're causing trouble.

However, pain killers and alcohol are a good mix at numbing pain for me!

I think it was about 1967 when my dentist decided to remove mine. Only one was giving me pain, but he decided they should all come out so I wouldn't have a problem again. In those days they were taken out in the dentist chairs using gas to put me to sleep. I remember that there was a dentist, a doctor and two nurses. They put a big rubber mask over my face and and I had to breath in this horrible tasting gas. When I came round they told me they had taken all four wisdom teeth out and another tooth as well.
My mouth was full of blood and my throat was really sore where they had put a tube down it to stop me choking on the blood. It was about six in the evening when they had finished and I went home and went to bed, I didn't sleep much that night, but I was up in the morning to start work at eight. By midday I could hardly stand and I went home and took to my bed. The following day the after affects of the anesthetic had almost paralysed me so I staid in bed all day. The sore throat was the most painful thing and that lasted for two weeks.

That may have been 43 years ago now, but I remember it like yesterday. I can still taste that gas and rubber face mask. I'm glad they took them all out together because I would never have gone back.

All I can say is that you should be happy that times have moved on and tooth extraction is so much easier and relatively painless.

Arggh! don't remind me of that gas. My sister had hers done straight before me, and game out all giggly. A came out and :puke: and more on the drive home thanks to the blood trickling down my throat and the memory of that gas smell.

I got my wisdom teeth a few years ago. They all came through no problems and gave me no pain. Maybe I just have a big gob so they don't disturb the other teeth :D

Erm, young mr jordie. Where might you be out drinking tonight? I feel a need to exercise my heavy tripod over the head of the cretin who did this, but you'll do at a pinch!

Dont be looking at me old man  :coat:

My wisdom teeth hurt like hell when they were coming through. Apparently, they also had "weak surfaces" according to my dentist, which required varnishing. That didn't stop one of them falling in half one night while I was brushing my teeth, leading to a huge and rather painful filling. Quite possibly the second most pointless thing in the human body, after the appendix.

Right, once the wisdom teeth hurdle is over and done with, there's the shaving thing to get the hang of. How are you for chickenpox and measles?

My bottom ones impacted when they were trying to come through, the pain was so bad I was passing out because of it. I got an emergency admission to the dentist, he told me that they had to come out and advised me to have the top ones done at the same time. A hospital appointment would have taken 4 weeks, if I went private it would cost £1200

I went private. It was worth £1200 for the pain to stop.

I went the next day for the extraction, one injection at around 2 o'clock in the back of the hand and I was out of it. By 7 o'clock I was eating dinner. No problems.
