I am thinking about getting a wireless remote for my D60. I think the recommended Nikon one goes for around £14.99 give or take.

The receiving sensor on the camera is located on the front of the camera on the hand grip. Am I correct in thinking that the wireless remote will only work if operated in front of the camera? I was hoping to be able to activate it from behind the lens.

Is it worth getting one? Has anyone used one?

Cheers

I have a canon one and its a bit tempramentel, being it sometimes works from behind the camera, but most of the time you have to learn your hand around the front of the camera to get it to register the remote.
I've started using mine on the wire now and its much better.

I'd get one for the price so you have one but would'nt rely on in to much...

I shoot canon, but I have a friend with a d80 and wireless remote (which he keep losing). You can use it behind the camera.

Hello Quaker, I shoot a D40x and have the remote controller. Mine does not shoot if I activate the remote controller from behind the camera. It will only do so if I position the controller just in front. Therefore it depends what you mean when you say "from behind the camera". If you mean sitting comfortably one meter behind the camera and shooting away in remote, then it's not possible, but if you stand just behind the camera and point the remote at the front (not in the way of the frame) then it's OK. Of course it depends if the D60 works in a similar way, that I don't know. Ciao

Thanks for the responses.

For the money, I think it is worth getting one just to give it a go, I would probably only use it for night shooting so would be close to the camera.

I think it may do the trick.

Thanks again.

it might be worth looking for one with a detatchable wire also?
everylittle helps
