Hey..

I've just received a jessops flashgun - But how can I go about getting off-camera flash?
I know I'll need a wireless trigger, but can anyone recommend one?
Also - How can I get it to attach to the tripod? Will the horseshoe (?) -> screw attachment come with any trigger I buy?

Thanks

dont know the specs on the flash but I imagine it has a PC sync port on it somewhere..
if you are looking to save some money I would go with the alienbee triggers. www.alienbees.com they are cheap and work very well(I own these) or another cheap set would be skyports or cactus vw triggers

If you want the good stuff.. go with pocketwizards.

If the flashgun came with a mount like the canon/nikon speedlights do you should be able to just screw it on top of a tripod. if not you will have to go about finding an adapter/mount that has the right threading size on the bottom(not sure the size exactly)

Or for the hotshoe, buy a hotshoe adaptar (recommend one with capable of attaching an umbrella) for a lightstand.

Phottix have a good name and I have seen good reviews from other photographers http://www.phottix.net/
I bought a wireless shutter release and am really pleased with it.
Part of their website looks as if it is not working properly so you may have to give them a really.... really helpful guy and fast delivery.

or even have a word with Graham (Flash in the pan).....

Those triggers FITP sells are a good, cheap, reliable option for starting out.

Elinchrom Skyports are good for setting up multiple flashes thanks to the many channel options but like the FITP ones, they don't support TTL. I use these 'cos they're £60 per receiver

Pocketwizards are good because of the TTL but they're pricey

Attaching a flash to a tripod I use Nikon AS-19 table top stand, which can screw onto a tripod and then the flash slots into it

Thanks for all your replies - I like the look of the ones FITP has as I'm not after anything expensive. Just cheap and cheerful as I'm still a huge beginner :P

Thanks again for the recommendations :D

I've just ordered a set of 1 trigger and 3 receivers which have umbrella attachments in them from Link Delight in aBay. Cost just £22.50. I've not received them yet so I can't say how good they are. I've heard mixed reviews about them but for the price you can't really go too far wrong.

If your flash came with a PC synch cord, you can extend this using a simple 2 core speaker cable and some tape over the joins. I have done this and got a 4 metre cable.

With regards to attaching to a tripod, then you need to get a cold shoe, which has a flashgun shoe at the top and is threaded at the bottom for your quick release plate.

I shot all in this thread with the cabled flash.
